I have Intel P4 with XP as operating system, it has started given a problem, CPU power is on but there is no display in monitor and the monitor light is also green but blinking very fast, plz tell me where...

It sounds to me to be a video card issue. Make sure that the video card is properly inserted into the mother board and that the cable is properly connected. If that fixes you problem it is connectivity.

If that doesn't fix it, (If you have another monitor available) try to hook another monitor up (that you know works) and see if the problem repeats itself. If it does you are probably going to need a new video card. If it doesn't, then either your monitor or it's cable is bad.

I hope that this helps you, if it doesn't edit or re-post your problem with more information to help trace down the issue.

Good Luck

Display problam

  1. Make sure that the monitor is turned on and has power. Make sure that the display's power cord is plugged into a working wall outlet, and that it's properly connected to the power adapter. (To check if the wall socket is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.)
  2. Check that all video cable connections to the computer video port and to the monitor are properly connected.
  3. Examine the pins on the video cable connector to make sure they are not bent or damaged in any way.
  4. Connect a known working display (if you have an extra one available). If you see video after doing so, replace your old display.
  5. Unplug the video cable and then turn on the monitor, check any message is showing in monitor if its shown means ur monitor is ok or else their is a problem in monitor..
  6. turn off the system and check the ram..
  7. Reset the computer...

have you tried to isolate what the cause of the problem? first check the video card if is properly inserted into the slot, and check the memory, and cable from CPU to monitor if it is connected properly. then boot your system. And try to observe this beep error code this might help you locate where the problem is.

short beep System is OK
2 short beeps POST Error - error code shown on screen No beep Power supply or system board problem Continuous beep Power supply, system board, or keyboard problem Repeating short beeps Power supply or system board problem
1 long, 1 short beep System board problem
1 long, 2 short beeps Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA)
1 long, 3 short beeps Display adapter problem (EGA)
3 long beeps 3270 keyboard card

thnk you.

Your laptop is probably working with an external display.
Try to change the setting, by pressing the function key (usually on the bottom left of your keyboard) and the Fx key with a monitor (I don't know exactly which key it is but usually is F4 / F5 or F6).

they normally turn off like this when they aren't receiving a video signal from the pc (same as when you turn off the pc). make sure that it is connected properly, and that the video output is activated. try disconnecting from the other monitor while its on and connect the problem monitor...if it still isn't working then there may be a problem with the cable or the monitor itself. Try another VGA or DVI cable. Hope this helps
