Question about Kenmore 60654 Microwave Oven
I enter the time on my microwave and push start and I get beeps and microwave does not start. The light also stays on inside the microwave. The exhaust fan works fine as does the kitchen timer. Is there a switch somewhere that is not working properly such as for the door?
You got it! One of the door switches is not activating. Take a look at the door itself first. There should be two tabs that stick out. These tabs will engage in the holes near the control panel. If the door does not have a broken tab then the problem is behind the control panel on one of the switches. There are 3 switches back there.
Unplug the power cord, it is usually in the cabinet above the microwave oven. Then take the grille off the top, the screws for the grille are on the top of the unit facing down. With the grill off you will see the one screw on top of the control panel, remove that screw and lift up and out on the control panel this will give you access to view the switches and test them with an ohmmeter.
