What is the correct schematic of any stand fan winding?

May i know what is the basic electrical connections of any stand fan? i accidentally cut three windings of the coil and i don't know now which end goes correctly to another. i am scared of experimenting because of my fears of being electricuted.
thanks a lot.

If you cut the coil ... your chance of actually making a repair are very limited. If you are skilled at using a volt/ohm meter, you can probably tell which one goes to which one ... actually making the solder or cold repair and getting it back into an enclosure will be difficult.

You can check the individual pieces of the wire using the ohm part of your meter checking contunity.

Generator running but not electrical output, why

generators need a circuit to excite the windings in the alternator as there is no residual magnetism for this to happen
Same as on a car alternator where the battery supplies that power
there will be a small section that generates this power requirement before the full voltage cuts in
as most makes of generators ( invertors excepted) use the same basic schematics you should be able to down load the diagram from the net for your make or from a make the same rating as yours

I have an old Weller soldering iron model 8250a that I would like to repair. It has burnt up wiring, and I'd like to find a wiring circuit diagram, schematic or ANY kind of electrical drawing, comple

These were very simple and sturdy soldering guns [I still have 5 or 6 of them in various sizes] They basically have a transformer wired so that the heating part is basically a short circuit of the large low voltage secondary winding [very low voltage] and because the tip is higher resistance than the rest of the heat producing end, it gets hotter sooner. The secondary is just a single loop of the tube that holds the tip. Usually the only maintenance is to loosen and re-tighten the tip mounting nuts so that there is a good electrical connection [no connection = no heat; poor connection = poor heat]
There may be another small secondary winding that provides power to the light but I think the older ones just attached the lighting wires to the large secondary.
The primary [line voltage] winding of the transformer is switched such that the higher wattage powers the lesser resistance part of the winding and the lower wattage powers the higher resistance part of the same winding. In other words there is a single wire for the primary that has a tap near one end of the winding for dual heat.
If the two windings to the switch are mixed up the higher heat will just be at a different trigger position; if you don't like it, switch them around.

Also check the connection to the non-switched wire from the cord for a good connection. The switches are still available, at least for the newer models; do a google search for

I don't know your specific fan or switch.

Following link is TYPICAL illustration of 3-wire fan switch wiring:

Three way switch is designed to match TYPICAL fan motor windings.
Motor windings are insulated copper wire wrapped around metal fan housing, similar to electromagnet you can make by wrapping wire around a nail.

Inside the fan motor are two windings.
Winding 1 for low speed.
Winding 2 for medium speed.
And when both windings are combined, that makes high speed.

You have to test your switch.
Usually the hot lead connects to red. So the red connects to each of the other wires.
Then pull the chain and use continuity tester between red wire and other wires to see how the switch is set up.

Wiring of 2hp motor

You need to take advice from the motor manufacturer or reconditioner to ensure you are wiring it correctly.

Typically a basic single phase motor will have a start winding and a run winding. That usually makes four wires for a reversible motor but that can be cut to three if the motor must run in one direction only so the three wires would be start, run and common.

The run is connected to the hot side of the supply and the start similarly connected to the hot side except the start capacitor will be in series. The common wire will require connecting to a neutral and of course the motor body will need a ground unless it is double insulated.

It should be possible to sort which is which using a sensitive ohmmeter.

Changed out blower motor on elect furnace.the old motor had three wires one fed the motor is revirsable has purple wire, red, blue, black.hooked up purple 1st phase, red for high 2nd phase. is...

hmmm . you better check on that before firing it up ... normally the colored wires are for different speeds .. only one speed can be connected at a time .. usually the high speed winding is used for air conditioning and a lower speed winding is selected by a relay for heating .. ... the way the capacitor is hooked up determines which way the motor will turn .. your old motor with just 3 wires was probably a single speed motor .. normally the black wire will be connected permanantly to one phase .. the other phase then goes to the selected speed winding (color of wire) .. one goes to the starting capacitor . the others even if not connected will be hot electrically so need wire nuts to prevent shorts ..

Fan slows down and also stops suddenly on its own

motor windings are going bad. The winding swell as electricity goes through them putting pressure on the shaft. The reason it shuts down is for safety so it won't overheat and start a fire. Recommend replacement. Hope this helped Good luck

4 wire likely a 3 speed fan you should be able to conect the medium and low circut to a set of releys and hook them both to the low speed side of the fan
allowing the low and med speed to work on low and the high speed to work properly

Looking to replace Patton fan motor, model 1010mp, style TJ74SP

If you are up to disassembling your motor, you will find a thermal cutout near the windings which frequently fails open. Replacements are readily available, or just jumper it out. If the bearings are shot or the windings burned you're out of luck. Trust me, a new motor will cost more than a whole new fan.
