Hello. Begin by going to the tv remote and pushing the input button. Check to make sure it is on the input setting it needs to be on to get a signal. Here is the manual for your Bose in case you don't have one. Joe

I can help you with your Bose Lifestyle 48 picture setting.

Follow these steps to change the video setting from European to North American:

  1. With the media center turned off, use the controls on its front panel to follow these steps:
  2. Press and hold the Enter button on the media center.
  3. While holding the Enter button down, press the Store button. Selections will appear on the media center display each time you press Store.
  4. When Video appears as the selection on the display, release the Store and Enter buttons.
  5. Use the Volume up and down buttons to scroll through the Video options.
  6. Stop scrolling at the proper selection:
  • • For a component connection only, select:
  • -NTSC COMPONENT (in N. America)
  • -PAL COMPONENT (outside North America)
  • • For a component connection and progressive scan, select NTSC PROGRESSIVE.
7. With the proper selection made, press Store to confirm the
selection and leave the Video options.

I hope that helps.

    I see.
Well, NTSC Component or NTSC Progressive would both have switch video mode from PAL to the format we use over here.

Other video mode reasons for no picture (provided your cabling has not changed and interconnects are not the problem.) include:

Progressive video - if you set doesn't support progressive scan, no picture will be displayed.
Component video - if you are using the component video cable (three rca cables, red/blue/green), you must make that selection on the display of the media center.

To reset the system, unplug the media center power supply for at least 60 seconds, then reconnect it. Allow the system 5-10 minutes to re-initialize before using.

There is also a 'factory reset' for the Iifestyle 48; unfortunately you will need to see the media center menus on your TV to use it. If the reset process above doesn't work, I recommend you reassess the video connections to your TV. I suspect you can run a 'simpler' video connection such as an svideo or single-RCA cable (composite) connection to a different video input of your TV. This may give you a video source you can see. It won't be as good a signal as component video, but it will let you navigate your bose media center menus to get to the "Media Center / Restore Settings" factory reset option.

    I hope that helps.

Look through the settings and see what has got changed, if you can see the menu. If you cannot, show a flashlight on the TV (only if this is LCD TV) from a distance and see whether you can see the picture. Try resorting to factory default settings.

My philips dvp3560 will only playback in black and white

Check the TV System menu:

[TV System]
Change this setting if the video does not appear
correctly. By default, this setting matches the most
common setting for TVs in your country.
• [PAL] - For a PAL-system TV. (European TVs)
• [Multi] - For TV that is compatible with both
PAL and NTSC.
• [NTSC] - For an NTSC-system TV. (American TVs)

Also try:

[Picture Setting]
Select a predefined set of picture color settings or
customize the personal setting.
• [Standard] - Original color setting.
• [Bright] - Vibrant color setting.
• [Soft] - Warm color setting.
• [Personal] - Customize the color setting. Set
the level of brightness, contrast, tint and color
saturation, then press OK

Incompatible Video Signal

i forget exactly how to do this, and i know how to do it, but your menu should still display on your tv when you press the menu button. but,,,,
worse i did it in a hotel and had to get engineering to fix it for me....

you need to reset the system, the instructions are in the manual,

but to get your picture dislaying on your tv, get an adaptor for the end of your scart cable and plug the yellow video component into the AV socket on your TV. this should work until you wade through the manual. even though the picture wont be good.

There can one of two problems here. Either your DVD player's output is set to NTSC and you are attempting to play it through a PAL (European) TV, or you are perhaps using the SVHS output incorrectly. The solution is to access the player's setup menu and ensure the video output is set to your standard (PAL or NTSC). Hope this helps!
