Question about Gateway FPD 1730 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

2 Answers

I own an FPD1730 17 in. Flat Panel Monitor. My screen is dim and I'm unable to manually change the tints back to the way it was. I have tried autoset on my monitor screen but it changes back to dim and will not default back to autoset. Is my monitor going out on me??

FIX THE COLOR, IT HAS A GREEN TINT THAT DOESN'T GO AWAY WHEN TRYING TO ADJUST COLORS FOR DISPLAY DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Entire screen has a pink tint. Can change to blue with settings. Cannot change to natural with tint etc.

Check that all cables are intact and plugged in correctly.
Turn of the TV completely. There might be a manual button on the tv for this. As the last thing, remove the power cord from the power outlet in the wall or where it is placed. Wait 1 min. Then put it back in, swith it on and turn on the TV again.
If this doesn't help and you have tried replacing the cable that you get the picture from (VGA, DVI, Antenna etc.) then it is most likely broken.

Change your screen resolution to the highest setting first, in control panel, appearance/ themes. Next Push smart button on bottom right of monitor. Cinema mode should be highlighted hit autoset on monitor. Next hit the FUN button and highlight the 4:3 screen setting. Normal screen is white background, but lately I am getting a blue tint that clears up sometimes and sometimes not. Please advise

Try hooking up another knowng working monitor to the computer and see if the blue tint comes back intermittently.

If it still comes up then you know your video card is the culprit. If the blue tint goes away then you know the original monitor is bad.

Go into monitor settings and turn "off" X-Contrast. X-Contrast will auto change contrast when backgrounds darkens. However, adjust manually the Brightness and Contrast settings to compensate.

Dell - 17" flat screen

This sounds like the back light is gone on the monitir... to check this look very close at the monitor whet the PC has booted, if you see a VERY dim image on screen then it suggests that the back light is gone.

Many monitors hace a 3 year warranty so I would try a warranty claim before throwing it away

Gateway FPD1960 19" CD has a red tint to all oc screen when I turn it on.

Make sure your VGA cable is seated properly. If it is seated OK, it could be the start of a problem with a backlight. When a backlight goes bad, it typically shows up as pink/red color where white should be displayed.

Monitor displaying yellow tint

Try this. Worked for me immediately, including with PhotoShop

  1. Go to Color Management (in Vista, just click the Windows Orb / Start Search & type in Color Management)
  2. On Devices, select your display (repeat if you have multiple ones... at least I did). e.g., Syncmaster ....
  3. Check the box: Use my settings for this device
  4. Select any and all profiles you have and Remove them.
Check to see if that fixed it. You may need to restart. I didn't have to.
