Our tv is about 4 years old and it turns off until it warms up when you first turn it on it has a red tint(unclear picture) and immediately turns off about 10-12 times. We have to keep turning it on over and over but once it warms up it is fine and will stay on. Ths only happens when we first turn it on for the day, or once it has been off for a couple of hours. We have called our regular tv repair guys but they have not seen this problem and can not guess at the issue. We do not want to invest $500 on a Tv when we could get another.

Re: 60 in Mistubishi tv model # VS60609
Next time it shuts down. Press input and menu on the set and hold them both in together and see if it flashes a 2 digit code from the led. Then let me know the number if it flashes a code. It could very well be a weak capacitor in the RED drive circuit or the picture tube develpoing a short.

It sounds like a bad lamp, a bad lamp driver or a combination of the two. Be aware that sometimes a bad lamp driver will blow a perfectly good lamp, so if you're not sure which is causing the problem, replacing BOTH would probably be the best course of action
