Flash not working on olympus x-785 camera

I got an olympus X-785 for christmas and it was working fine for a month or two, but recently the flash has not been going off. The red marker is blinking to indicate the flash is charging but it never stops blinking so the flash is never ready to go off. A picture can be taken when no flash mode is chosen. Could you please help me as the camera is pretty much pointless without the flash.

Press cursor-right (marked with a lightning bolt), then select the desired flash mode. To turn the flash off, select the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it.

Full details are on page 17 of the Advanced Manual. If you need a manual, you may download a copy from here.

The problem you are describing is a problem with the flash charging indicator switch inside the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

I have an olympus Stylus 800 and the flash stop to work. The camera only works withou flash. What you recommend me. Thank you.

If there is a red squiggly flashing icon on the screen this is actually a repair issue with the camera. The flash charging indicator switch needs to be replaced as it seems to have malfunctioned. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

My problem is the flash of my olympus fe-230 does not work even if it is in the automatics status. the red flash sign just pop up at the left side of the screen while capturing pictures. i already res

Have you tried to reset the camera back to factory defaults to see if it is maybe a setting that has the flash disabled? To reset the camera: go to Menu - left arrow to reset and press ok. Highlight yes and press ok. This will put the camera in factory default settings. See if the flash works now. If you see a red squiggly flash arrow blinking on the screen constantly, this is actually a repair issue and the camera would need to be serviced to replace the flash charging indicator switch. MY OLYMPUS FE-115- THE FLASH DOESN'T GO OFF

You can try to reset the camera back to factory settings to see if the flash will start working again. To reset: Have the camera in shooting mode - press the down arrow - camera will indicate reset or cancel - highlight reset and press ok - the camera will be back in factory settings - see if flash fires - if it does then fine - if you see a red flash charging icon blinking on the screen this is a repair issue and the camera needs to be sent to Olympus for service.

Flash icon

Same problem with the red flash icon. I can take a picture if I turn off the flash as well, but have to turn off the flash every time I open the lens. Have had the camera for 5 years and haven't had a problem. We needed to replace the lens cover recently and after we replaced the cover we started having this flash problem. It was working fine before the cover came off which leads me to believe we've changed our settings somehow....pleas
