I Know That This Can Be Very Frustrating At Times. Hopefully I Can Lighten It To An Extent. Follow These Steps

1) Place The iPod In Recovery Mode By Holding Down Power And Home Button For 7-10 Seconds.
2) Wait For Apple Screen To Appear, Release Power Button
3) Look For A Pop-up Stating "Detected iPod Touch In Recovery Mode" Release Home Button When This Pops Up
4) You Should Be Able To Access It, If Not Simply Do A Light Restore Using The iTunes Settings

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

My son got an ipod 5th generation that was his

If you blocked the iPod, with the wrong passcode, it will ask you on the screen, to enter the password from the Apple id he has. Only a part of the account name is to be seen on the screen.
If that does not work, take the iPod and the invoice and your ID to the Apple store and ask them to reset it. That could take some time (days) but as long as you can prove it is yours, I think they will help. Be aware if his "friend" changed the password on the Apple Account, he or she can buy everything with the credit card connected to the Apple id. eventually ask Apple to block the account if you see some purchases on your credit card.

I hope this helps.

I need to change my ipod codes as my son has his codes entered

Do you mean password lock?
If so, what you need to do is go to the settings app. Press General, Passcode lock, enter the unlock code and then change password.

Ok so i changed my passcode last night, because i didnt want a friend to get into it(he knew the pc) and then i went to play on it this morning and i didnt remember it... i disabled it.:( then im coneecting...

this can be fixed by restoring the ipod.

plug into computer and turn the ipod off (hold power button, wait for slider, turn off). turn on by holding the power button and the home key at the same time, this puts it in restore mode, yellow sign should appear. start itunes. click on the summary tab and click the restore button. this returns it to factory settings. if you want you can now choose a new passcode as you would normally on the ipod under settings

hope this helps =)

Changed passcode -- ipod touch 8gb

It seems that you will have to restore you ipod touch i'm afraid! So, i hope you have your things backed up.

Ok the steps to take are:

1) Connect the iPod Touch
2) Press and hold sleep+home until the device reboots.
3) Keep holding until that "please connect me to iTunes"-screen appears
4) iTunes says something about having detected a touch in recovery mode. Allow it to do its thing.

If you get the -18 error, proceed:

5) Disconnect the iPod Touch
6) Close iTunes
7) Reconnect the iPod Touch
8) iTunes launches and shows message as in step 4, but this time, the recovery will work

Hope this helps,

Cant remember passcode. my son typed it in wrong. its not what he thought it was

put it in DFU mode while connected to the computer. to do this, hold the home and power buttons for 10 seconds and then let go of the power but keep on holding the home for 10 secs. the screen will be black and nothing will show up. go to itunes and click on your ipod on the left. then click restore. this should work.
