Question about Pioneer DV-270-S DVD Player

1 Answer

DVD-270 has picture but no sound...it appears to be plugged in correctly and the CD portion has sound...but not the DVD portion. I just moved and it was working this morning at my last house but when I plugged it all back in, no sound.

Check in DVD player setup menus for audio output type of PCM or bitstream, etc., and try different modes. Probably reset when unplugged.

Trying to reset dvd pioneer 270 out of progressive mode and nothing is working can hear sound but no picture

I just had that same problem with my Pioneer dvd player. I found the online manual for my dvd player. For restoring the default settings simply turn off your dvd player, then press the STOP button on the front panel of your dvd player while turning the dvd player on again.

It will not load cd or dvd it keeps coming up

The loading mech or poss. the read portion of the disc player is out of whac. In other words the cd dvd portion of your deck is defective and short of having it repaired by a techinition there isnt much you can do. Its a **** shoot but you may be able to unplug the unit let it set for a few minutes and plug it back in may rest the mech., but like I say its a **** shoot. Sounds like its time for a new deck or a trip to the repair center.

DVD Player doesn't work on DRC6355N VCR/DVD Combo

With most dvd/vcr combo units there is separate wiring. When I use my emerson combo unit I have it wired that I have to be on different inputs on my tv to view a dvd and a vhs. On some units the vcr portion is wired via a regular cable line, while the dvd portion is wired with the yellow, red, and white component cable. Try inserting a dvd and scrolling through your tv inputs until you find the picture or check your wiring to ensure nothing has come loose. If that has no result you could try wiring it differently if possible to eliminate that as a possibility.

Using remote to play video DVD

You need to bypass your A/V tuner for your video connections (if possible). Plug your video directly into the TV and audio into the tuner. This will also give you a cleaner signal/picture as it does not have to processed by your tuner BEFORE it goes to your tv. Think of it as cutting out the middle man. Your tuner is best left for powering your speaker and not controlling your video despite all of the available connections in the back of it.

I would also get rid of your VHS and cassette players as they are dead technology. Clean up your system and remove the clutter. This will lessen your chance of getting interference. Good luck!!

No Disc

Hi,

Initially, try cleaning the lens using a CD ROM disc cleaner similar to those used in PC's CD ROM drives. They are normally and readily available from most computer shoppes. If the cleaning would not be corrective, pls try to manually clean by opening and use cotton buds to clean the laser/optics. it may also be worth your while to spray the insides with a can of compressed air to remove dust. Re-application of lubricant to the mechanical portion would also help.

If none of the above solves the problem, then chances are that the laser wiould require replacment. Considering the cost of repair and downtime, it might be more economical to purchase a new unit.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have an AVR-2807 with a Toshiba DVD and Harmony remote. Havent played a DVD for a while and tonight when I try, I get picture and no sound. If I move the input to CD I get sound but I lose picture. ...

Have you changed the connections recently? If so, maybe something got plugged back in differently.

Otherwise check the AVR-2807's System Setup. There is a menu to associate different video inputs to each of the audio inputs. Probably the input with sound doesn't have the right video input associated with it, though I'm not sure you can associate a video input with the CD input... which tells me maybe the connections got changed?
