What do the various led light colors mean? I have

What do the various led light colors mean? I have a Toshiba Satellite A135 and normally the light over the power button is blue and likewise, the lights in the lower right corner of the keyboard are usually blue (power supply connected, battery, etc.). Today I get not display, and the lights are green for power and power supply, and orange for battery. I have replaced the battery and still can't get it to boot..

But what does green mean? Right now the lights are green and there is no video display. The fan is spinning so I know there is some power. The battery never seems to charge though (stays orange) no matter what. I have two of these laptops so I switched power supplies and battery. This made no differnce in the video display or orange battery light.

Also, when I turn it on, the power light by the power button stays green and there is never any disk drive activity light (which I assume I would see if it was booting but the video display was bad). I've tried hooking up a second VGA monitor but got no display (you proably have to be booted to enable it). But I am going to try the S-Video port and see if I can see any boot messages.

Any ideas why I'm having green lights, not blue and why even a new battery with a new powersupply won't show a full charge?

The LEDs each indicate something is conected or normal. There is one for hard drive activity, power, battery, and wireless. Blue is good. Orange is bad. First take the charger to a shop to have it checked. If bad replace it. If good the the problem is either battery or the connector on laptop. Since the battery is new it sounds like the connector to me.

My toshiba satellite has a wide colored band showing. I can adjust the monitor back and forth and most of it goes away.. any solutions ?

HI there,

A soon as you can, connect the laptop to an external monitor and switch to that monitor when connected by holding down the "fn" key and pressing F5. If the external monitor displays normally with no colored band, then your laptop's screen needs to be replaced.

If the same colored band appears on the external monitor, it means that your video chip/controller on the motherboard is about to fail, at which point the screen will go black and stay that way. In this scenario, you need to have the chip on the motherboard replaced or the motherboard itself.

Here's hoping your laptop is under warranty still. If it's not, go to eBay and type "Toshiba Laptop Motherboard Repair" in the search window. Hopefully, you can get a flat rate there of $125 to $175 for the repair.

Best of luck to you.

Toshiba Satellie A135-S4467 is not turning on

If they tested the PSU,power and found it to be working, and they
put your memory into another laptop and it worked

I would say it is your processor, most times people forget these cool from the bottom and they set them on places that they can't keep themselves cool and overheat.

If it was be, I would buy a used processor on ebay that was guaranteed to work, before buy a mobo,

Buy check the pice of both and see if its just better to buy new, with the advancement of processors, prices have dropped.

My Toshiba satellite A135 doesn't power on, it just flashes the power light when i plug in the charger, and the battery light doesn't light up at all. I already replaced the charger so it is not that.

clear the cmos(bios), you must unplug the battery on mainboard(if you are an expert and you can open the laptop) for 10 hours (or short it) then power the laptop.

LCD not displaying screen, correct. If you have a external monitor like from a desktop, then you can attach it to the laptop. Most laptops have a VGA or DVI connector on them. Even HDMI on new laptop. Most laptop have a combo you need to push to have it go the external monitor. It usually has Fn (Function) then above the F1-F10 keys in color, are the Function keys you push to get it.
I've seen it on F3-F4 keys normally. Your might be different. Use them as a reference only.

My toshiba satellite a135-s2276 won't turn on

A coworker used to work for Toshiba and said that this is common for the Satellite A135 models and under warranty the fix was a motherboard swap for a newer/updated motherboard. Otherwise the unit is unusable.

:-(
