could you give me a ballpark figure on having repair work done on a sony model #str-k900 home reciever? repair man said it was blown circuit transmitters, thanks in advance for your help.

If the problem was blown "output transistors" expect a cost of about $6-$8 per transistor (there are 4 total in the receiver) plus a few bucks for an emitter resistor and perhaps $2 each for the driver transistors (4 max per receiver). Also add in the local labor rate.
Please note that these are estimates and that additional parts may be required depending upon how smoked the output section actually is.
