Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Hello, I got a new XBox just a while ago because my old one died out. I took out the hard drive of the old XBox and put it into the new one so I can play all the games I've downloaded. But here's the problem, I can't play the arcade games or some of my Xbox games on offline mode, because the new XBox doesn't read them. So I need to know what I should do to fix this.

I may be wrong on this but i think if you move one hard drive from one xbox to another you'll have to reformat the drive which will erase all your games and save data on it.

Hello,

I would first make sure the xbox 360 is configured properly to reconize the hard drive. Follow the directions on the following link and see if it helps.

http://mktplassets.xbox.com/NR/exeres/26346E2A-FA55-4F14-B2DD-7B6FD8CF1C7B.htm

This link from Microsoft also goes over how to properly troubleshoot your hard drive.

If this fails to resolve your issue, since your Xbox is brand new, I would recommend calling XBOX 360 for technical assistance.

Phone assistance is available:
  • 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Eastern Time
  • 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Pacific Time

Please note that if you call us using a mobile phone, there may be additional charges from your service provider. Please contact your service provider for more information.

If this helps I appreciate a thumbs up!

How do I transfer data from old hard drive xbox to new xbox

You are going to need an Hard Drive transfer kit.

Its simple, you put a hard drive on the usb cable and another on the console. It takes about 2 hours if the Hard Drive is filled.

Here is the article that will explain it.

try the clearcache trick used to wipe only the basic memory from the HDD this may do the trick,
Go to the system blade and then select memory.
Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Fixed unplayable disk error but now i get told to put disk in an xbox 360 console

Lol then no sir you did not fix it. Sorry.
"to play this disc, please put it in an Xbox360" error is caused by one of two things.
1) Dead/Dying laser- Replace it or try to adjust the variable resistor on the laser lens. (USE a micrometer on the 20k setting and a 1.8mm flathead)
2) Incorrect drive key- If you "fixed" your initial problem by buying a new dvd drive, and putting it into the console. You no longer have the correct dvd key to match the Xbox360 motherboard. IF both drives are the same brand. You can simply remove the green pcb from the old drive and put it into the new drive. (be CAREFUL with the ribbons!!) If you did purchase a new drive, and already threw away the old drive, you're screwed the Xbox will NEVER play a game again, unless you download it from Xbox Live.

Xbox 360 Pro : To Play This Disk Error

Unfortunately , a new xbox360 game cant be played in a normal xbox (not xbox 360)

The problem is that the new xbox is way different on the inside than the original xbox is. Because it is way more powerful, you can put an old xbox game into a 360, and it will work fine (most of the time), but if you try the reverse there is no way to make it work.

Xbox 360 deleting profiles and has no storage device

This sound like your hard drive took a ****. But before we count out the Hard drive your BIOS battery may have just died. If your warrenty is still vallid then maybe XBOX can help but if it is out then try replaceing the BIOS battery first. This would be the cheapest way. If you are uncertain what the bios battery looks like it is a flat battery that is about the size of a quarter. After you have replaced the battery and there is still no change then the next thing I would recomend is replaceing you hard drive.

You can buy an external USB drive enclosure, mount the drive in the enclosure, then connect the old drive to the new system.

here is a popular model:

Just click it loose from the old one and attach it to the new one. Shouldn't be a problem as long as ito's original.
