I don,t know how to check for these valves as it is a built in machine ( and I 'm a woman - a practical woman at that!) It is a smeg dishwasher and I don't have a manual for it.

Thanks Rylee, but am unable to locate the washers, valves you mentioned when I look into the machine. i would need more of a step by step guide please. I have a smeg dishwasher which is 20 mths old.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To start with check the water inlet valve which is located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side of the Dishwasher. If the water inlet valve is bad you have to replace it, also check the main water line for clogs/obstructions. If still the issue is not resolved then it’s a bad float switch and needs to be replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I have a kenmore dishwasher, mo # 66513594k6c and all systems are go but the the water will not fill. Is this the pump or the control panel?

does it make a huming sound when it is time for it to fil?
if so, check your water.. make sure the tap is on..
otherweise. there should be a mushroom looking thing in your dishwasher, wiggle it up and down and try again.
the mushroom thing is the water level switch, sometimes it gets stuck, and makes the machine think that it is already full of water

Dishwasher wont fill with water

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

Aeg favorit 86070 vi fully integrated dishwasher started bleeping with 3 short bleeps 2 months ago. I followed instructions internet and shook dishwasher to one side and it worked for about 8 weeks. Now...

This is typical of the anti-flood circuit that opperates once it detects water on the base of the machiene and is a polystireen float that activates a micro switch. This puts the machiene in pump out mode only. You need to determine if the water at the base of machiene is caused by a small leak or is it a customer spillage. Clearing the water (tip to side) or dry with paper towel and inspect for leaks. Rectify the leak and this should solve the problem.

Does not woork

Has the water drained by the time the dishwasher powers off?
The clicking sound is probably the (failed) pump motor and will require a service call or replacement of the unit.

No water coming into dishwasher

The hum is a selinoid. The water inlet valve is selinoided operated so I woudl sspeculate that either the valve is bad or the selinoid is. You can check the selinoind with an ohm meter. Since it hums I am guessng that the valve is bad. Likely they come together as one unit.

Bleeping dishwasher

Many dishwashers heat the wash and/or rinse water to a higher temperature, as the cycle calls for it. In these cycles, the dishwasher pauses after it has filled with water, waiting for the water to reach the pre-set temperature. What happens next, depends, as follows:

  • On some units, the pause is timed and the unit continues after the allotted time.

  • On others, the cycle can't continue until the water reaches the higher temperature. If you have this type of dishwasher and the water isn't being heated (say, because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues. When you repair the heating-system problem, the "cycle problem" is fixed too.

    Not filling

If the machine is not filling, then it is probably a faulty inlet valve. Check the float switch and the power supply lines at the back first.

See here how to locate the parts.

See also this advice for repairclininc:

" There's no water entering the machine If there's no water entering your dishwasher, check these:

    Water-inlet valve
    Float switch
Water-inlet valve The water-inlet valve lets water enter the machine. If this valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. It's usually located behind the lower access panel on the left or right side. It's the device with the main water line (usually copper) from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it.

Float switch The float switch is a small electrical switch that's located right below the dishwasher "floor." Above the switch, on the inside of the dishwasher, is a plastic cylinder that floats up as water fills the dishwasher. If this switch is defective, or if the plastic float gets caught or trapped in the raised position, the water can't enter the dishwasher. If the float switch is defective, you need to replace it.

check your water intake- i had the same issue - a leaky fitting wasn't supplying enough water to the dishwasher. had exactly the same symptoms you describe. fixed the leak, reset the dishwasher & it's working fine.
