Question about Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum M085845Vacuum
There is suction on the hose part, but none on the floor. I clean the filter every time I use it. Have checked everything else. It is Dirt Devil featherlite 12 amp. Motor runs, brushes turn, but no suction. What is it?
This solution was dead on! There was a wad of cat hair, MY hair and sawdust that my boyfriend decided was OK to sweep up blocking the curve of the tube leading from the foot to the canister. Got it out with a hemostat and it works like a dream now. Watch out for long girlie-hair wadding up your tubing.

there are 3 screws 2 on the left side behind the hose and 1 on the right back by the wheel.that will take the cover off.if you need to get into the bottom there is a screw on the bottom plate in the area where it looks like the belt travels.is the brush roller turning if not then your belt is probably broke.before you replace the belt clean off the motor shaft and get the old rubber off it otherwise the new belt won't last long.please leave feedback .be sure to clean your filter inside the dirt cup

SOURCE: dirt devil mvp not sucking
These Red Devil vacuums (like the similar Hoover uprights from the 1970's) rely on the sealed rigid bag case to pull the air through the bag before it reaches the vacuum motor. Any air that leaks into the case without passing through the bag decreases the available useful suction.
As a side effect, the motor runs slower when the case isn't sealed because ironically there's more air coming in for the vacuum motor to move and its working harder. The vacuum motor spins fastest when the vacuum is sealed up and the hose is blocked and no air passes through the machine.
