Good luck with refilled cartridges ... I have never had success with this process (though some do) In fact, I have ruined several printers before I found out what was doing it ... refilled cartridges (store bought or home filled)

It has to do with the chip that is in the cartridge. If you refilled them your self then the chip does not get reset. Some of the refill stores can reset the chip but sometimes it does not work.

Even with my Canon I have got new ones where the level showed zero. As long as you do not have a printer that will not print if the ink levels are low you are fine.

One thing you can do however is with Canon printers when you change out the cartridge you get prompted if you replace it with a new cartridge. When this comes up you can tell it no the cartridge is not new and it may refresh to about there the level is.

With my printer I normally do not go by the level meter anyways. Because it does not show right. My color has been low for over 2 weeks and still printing fine.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Reset inklevel

This is because they use a chip for the level, and it's based on usage, not on the actual level of ink on the cartridge. Here is a good page with info that can be valuable for you and help you save money.

Says ink is empty, but I just changed cartridges

Some cartridges have to be reset when refilled so it indicate that the cartridge if full. Sounds like it wasn't reset.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Refilled ink cartridges on pixma mp490 ...will not print

I know this is frustrating. I am all for recycling and using refilled ink and laser toner cartridges. However, the manufacturers make most of their money from ink and toner sales. So, from time to time, they will encode or datecode cartridge chips. The only times I've been ale to get around this is by using at least one genuine OEM cartridge to trick the printer. If that does not work, try another et of refills, or you will have to use only OEMs.

I have a new canon mp210 printer ink is low i bought new ink to replace old their is no ink cartridges in printer. When i look at the pictures to load new ink and put it in alarm light is flashing

Even if the ink level is low, you can continue printing.Press the paperfeed knob for 5 seconds. inklevel indicator will stop now.
Sometimes a new (or refilled) cartridge is not recognised correctly.
When one color is really mt, stop printing and replace inmideatly the colorcartridge.Printing or scanning without the 2 cartridges in place is impossible.

If the cartridges are refills they won't show ink levels but you should still be able to print. Then just print until appears to run out of ink,

Printer fail to recognize the ink cartridge

You need to wait longer for the printer to recognize the ink cartridge, but first clear all cartridge error messages on the printer.
