There is a brass u shaped pin that needs to be pulled out first, then they sell a moen cartridge puller to remove these, they sell them at most hardware stores. this is really the only way to do it, if its a newer one you can do it with a wrench.

Hi! You can buy or rent a cartridge puller for Moen's 1225 cartridge. Try Home Depot or your local hardware store or online at pro.moen.com part #104421

Do any plumbing stores carry moen 12801 replacement cartridges

I am not familiar with that cartridge, but most hardware stores and plumbing supply houses should have Moen parts. #'s 1224, 1225, 1200 and 1222 are the cartridges I'm familiar with.Bring the part with you.

You need a #1225 replacement cartridge. Pop the cap off of the handle. Use phillips screwdriver to remove the handle screw. Pull the handle off. Next, unscrew the two screws holding the cover plate on. After removing plate, there should be two integral stops, one on each side of the valve. Close the valves using a straight slot screwdriver. Pull on the brass cartridge spindle to ensure that the water is off. Remove the stop tube, which is a chrome cylinder at the center of the valve body. Look for a brass retainer clip at the top of the cylindrical portion of the valve body where the handle connects. It has a small hole and after you pull it out, you will see that it horse shoe shaped. Use your pliers or an awl stuck through the hole to pull the clip out. Note the position of your cartridge. There is a notch on the end of one side of the brass spindle at the center of the cartridge. Make note of its position. If you install it and get hot and cold reversed, just take the handle back off, and spin the brass spindle 180 degrees. The replacement cartridge comes with a white plastic tool designed to make removal easier. Use it. After loosening with the plastic tool, take your pliers and grab the brass stem. Pull as straight as you can. If cartridge will not budge, you might need a Moen cartridge removal tool. Do not spray with WD-40 or Liquid Wrench unless you like that taste in your water. If your clip won't go back on, it's because you didn't align the two ears on the cartridge. The ears should be at three o'clock and six o'clock. The cartridge must also be pushed in all the way. Good luck!

Install ation and adjust moan 1225 cartrage

Moen cartidges are supposed to be guaranteed for life, so take the bad one back for a refund!! Once the handle is off there is a metal u clip that you pry up to take off. You'll probably need to purchase a Moen cartridge removal tool, because simply pulling on the cartridge stem often is not enough force to remove the old one. Look at the way the ears are positioned with the clip (prior to removal) and replace in the same position.

I need replacement part for bath sink cartridge 4570

The Moen 1225 or 1200 cartridges are the same except the 1200 is brass in stead of plastic. They will fit most Moen single handle faucets. If it is a two-handle faucet, the 1224 cartridge will fit most two-handle models unless it is a fancy widespread faucet more than about 15 years old. I don't know the model numbers for those cartridges. All of these cartridges require a removal tool if you can't get them out with a pair of pliers.

Have a Moen single lever kitchen fawcet with seperate sprayer and it drips. I poped off the center cap on top of the fawcet and can see a cartridge but don't know how to remove it. It's brushed chrome.

Most MOEN single handle faucets use the same cartridge, the 1200 or 1225. If you have it apart enough to see the top there should only be a few more parts to remove to get at the stem ie the handle and cap. Once there you should see the horse shoe clip that holds the stem in. Once you slide the horse shoe clip off, the stem should be ready to go. Now sometimes these will come out easily, but most of the time they are a little tough. You can use a crescent wrench and gently turn the cartridge at the ears where the horse shoe clip was removed and this will loosen the cartridge, then you can use the handle or what ever you can grab the stem with to pull it out. FYI a lot of the home improvement stores carry a MOEN cartridge puller and they make it a lot easier. After cartridge is removed install new one and your done. DONT forget to turn off water before you begin. Hope this helps.

Moen single stem bathroom basin tap (25 years old). Trying to remove cartridge to grease it or replace it. Have removed handle and retaining clip. Pulled hard but can't shift it. Don't want to break...

You are on the right track. You have to use some force when pulling the stem from the faucet. Your replacement cartridge should have a little black or whit cap. that is inserted on top of the cartridge and by turning the cap will help loosen the whole cartridge

How to remove a moen 1225 cartridge

you need to remove the handle....then there is a clip you will need to remove...it is u shaped. After you pull the clip...the new cartridge should have came with a plastic piece that you use as a toll to break the cartridge loose from the valve. After doing that you will be able to use channel locks or pliers to pull the cartridge out. The new cartridge should have detailed instructions.

Sometimes they are very stubborn. Get a pair of pliers or channel lockes and pull straight up. Try wiggling the and pulling at the same time. This is the only way it can come out so you just need to keep working on it. Good luck!
