    hi thanks for quick response.

I'm using USB. A Mikomi DC-7130 7MP which is the one that it first happened with and then I've tried another (inferior) no name one with the same problem occurring.

Just tried the Mikomi on laptop and it appears to work fine. So looks like Skype problem. But I've uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times already and rolled back to an earlier version. All to no avail. I'm not computer literate enough to start doing things to registry files.

On the machine where the webcam won't work in Skype, go to Start, then Run, and type in devmgmt.msc, then hit the enter key. This will bring up the device manager. In there look under 2 sections, imaging devices, and sound/video and game controllers. The webcam should show under imaging devices, and the microphone for the webcam should show under audio devices. If both are there then it is installed correctly and this is a Skype issue. Otherwise, work to get it showing in both places. As far as Skype goes, maybe you need to install Windows updates. It may be that you need a .net Framework update or something. Try installing all updates, reboot and see what happens.

Either skype has a broken registry entry, or the camera software does. Usually uninstalling anything to do with the camera, and Skype, should resolve the issue, but since it hasn't for you I would suggest trying that Mikomi on another computer and see if it installs correctly and allows for video capture. Let me know what you find so we can troubleshoot further.

Are you using the built-in webcam or a USB webcam?

Leave your camera software off when you have skype on, don't start it at all, let skype detect it

Webcamera doesn't work

1. Check if Imaging Devices is listed in device manager.
2. Uninstall and reinstall the webcam companion software.

Use the Arcsoft Webcam Companion Software to use the camera to capture videos and pics. Click on start and type Webcam Companion in the search bar and press the enter key.
This will open the webcam companion software, then click on the capture option to use the camera. If you want to use the camera with any messaging software such as Skype, Yahoo Messenger etc, it is required to close the Webcam Companion Software or any other web messenger software.

The camera can be used with a single application at one time.

I've had my webcam for only 2 months. When i plugged it in today, it came on for a few minutes, and now it either doesn't work at all or says "Cannot capture video. The camera may already in use". However,...

Sounds like your driver (software that runs hardware) may be corrupt or missing and you need to re-install

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?",en?prodcrid=405

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to download Microsoft DirectX 9 or later to support your webcam

Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.

Try to go to device manager and under hardware you will see if the camera is installed or not.Try to enable the device or else the simplest solution is to remove the device from control panel>uninstall a software. Then once removed, restart system and re-install a fresh driver software for this camera..This should solve your problem..

Logitech WebCam Pro 5000 - Video Problem

Well the thing is with Digital Camera If there is lots going on (on the computer) your other program might interfer
1st end all processes that might have anything to do with the camera or that may be using any of its features, I would retart your computer as well
If you still have any issue uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the camera.
But I'm thinking you might have too much going on in the computer at the same time

Good Luck
