Question about Samsung HLN5065W 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television
As someone else suggested to you the color wheel if original is the most likely reason for this.
This has a small electric motor and spins at about 14,000 rpm. A typical failure of this part will be a high pitched sound or a fan like noise---the wheel faces the lamp and is close enough to the ballast for the sound to be difficult to pinpoint.
Problems where a set shuts down after some period of time can be hard to isolate but the description suggests it is the color wheel------it is plugged and connected to the sets light engine which will instantly detect if it slows down below a certain speed or even stops.
If the picture looks normal when it is on and the lamp is known to be good BUT hear the whine or fan like noise the color wheel is suspect.
I can look and get you a part number and cost etc and You Tube has actual video instructions for replacing them in most of the Samsung sets.
Let me know if you have questions--I am here to help and have changed a lot of these color wheels in this type and brand of set.

You may have a bad power supply and lamp ballast (most cases, the power supply damaged the ballast). You will need to take the back cover off the TV and inspect the ballast, specifically the capacitor on the ballast. The lamp is powered by this board, so it will be near by, just follow the red wires. A picture is provided below:
If the capacitor is swollen on top, this is a clear indicator of failure. If you only replace the ballast and not the power supply (SMPS) the problem will reoccur fairly quickly... usually within a few days the ballast will be damaged again. If you want to reduce your repair costs, you could replaced the power supply and the 47uF, 450v capacitor on the ballast.
Let me know what you find.
