The problem is most likely with the laser scanning unit. Check for damage to Flat Flex. Cable between formatter PCB & laser Scanner unit. Checks the FFC ends for damages. Repair the ends / Replace FFC if required. Service or replace the laser scanner unit if problem persists.
Well its a little difficult task man. Anyways you first need to remove the control panel look for a notch in front of the printer near panel. Push a little and then slide towards up and this will bring the panel out. Now you can access screws and remove the top cover for glass replacement. And by the way do remember that the white strip on your left is the home position marking and needs to be installed in the same fashion or the scanner will not work

Hello, I've got a hp scanjet 6300c and I downloaded all the software from the hp website....and hpsjrreg.exe is included in the suite or package. Try downloading 6300c s/w and see if you get it that way.
Download the file above > unplug your scanner > install the file above > reboot your computer (if needed) > login into your account > plug the scanner into your usb port > it should automatically detect your scanner > goto device manager > imaging device > right click HP Scan Jet .... > Click on Driver Tab > Click on Roll Back Driver > choose to run the driver on windows xp compatibility mode.
Or use the compatibility wizard to set scanjet pro to run on windows xp compatibility mode
Had exact same problem. Went to HP site and they said to check "add or remove programs" functions (in control panel) and if there are multiple copies of HP software to download their fix. I checked, had multiple copies, downloaded patch and all worked well again.
