Most routers are compatible with many of the ISP's, due to conventions for use..you may want to go on google, and do a comparison..

I have some links to the big three, here, if you'd like to evaluate them from a technical standpoint.

Install netgear wireless g router wgr14 v9

connect it to your modem with the WAN port and connect your computer to its LAN port and turn off everything. Then start modem, after 30 seconds the router and after 30 seconds the computer. No configuration should be necessary unless your modem is using an IP address and your router need another and you only have one from your ISP. Then you will need to contact your ISP to get another one or have them figure how it will work on their site. Use DHCP for your computer if possible so there will not be a subnet conflicts or IP conflicts or something.

I have wireless internet via modem, have a wireless router to allow my laptop as well as the home desktop to be on internet at same time, how do i setup the router with my modem and both pc's?

You don't need the modem. You plug the router into the PC and install your ISPs software (if any) and then open up a browser window and underneath the router on a sticker it will give you the address to put in and the username and password to access.
Set up should be easy but you can enable wireless from there (if it's not already on) and then the rest of your devices (provided they are wireless enabled) can use the router wirelessly one you enter the password on them.

I have a thompson speedtouch 510 that works just fine but when i add my SPARKLan WRTR-141 it wont get connected neither by the computer or the laptop. i have 2 ethernet cables i added one end of the first...

Have you gone into the SPARKLan and configured it yet? It should be like this Speedtouch>SPARKLan>your computer in to the SPARKLan.
Turn on your new routers SSID so it can be "found" by the wireless devices. You should turn OFF the DHCP server in the Speedtouch and turn DHCP ON in the SPARKLan.

Hope this helps.

I dont know haow to connect Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster WRT54GS - wireless router

  1. Connect your modem to the Internet port of the router. Your computer needs to be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports at the back of the router.
  2. Access the router's setup page by launching Internet explorer and typing 192.168.1.1.
  3. It will ask for a username and password. Leave the username blank and password is admin.
  4. Once your in the setup page, set "Internet connection type" with what your ISP requires you to have.
  5. If you have cable ISP, usually it is "Automatic Configuration-DHCP."
  6. But if you have DSL ISP, then it will be PPPoE. You need to know your username and password from your ISP.
  7. Better yet, verify your Internet connection type from your Internet service provider.
Hope this helps!

I have a new laptop that i am trying to connect to a wireless connection. I have a speedtouch modem which has a dsl line

Your modem must first have wireless capability. If not, you need to buy a wireless router which you need to connect to the modem. Once you've done that, you can actually call the manufacturer of the router so they can walk you through setting up the wireless connection.

Yes, you may need to configure the router first, try calling your provider to help you set this up or Philips to help you setup the router.

Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)

ok, obvious questions first:

Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?

if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.

do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses?  it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol.  if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.
