Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Check the water temperature inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. This would have happened as the dishwasher was overloaded with more than prescribed number of dishes. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. As the dishwasher is not draining properly, this issue is related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Sounds as though the heating/drying element or the controller has gone kaput... You will probably need it serviced.

Maytag 300 dishwasher won't dry goes through the whole cycle but dishes still wet when done

The most common reason for dishes not drying is a failed heating element. Normally the other symptom of a failed heating element is glassware coming out with a film on them and not really clean.

Please report back what you find, OK?

Dishes aren't clean. i have run vingegar and CR through the cycle but dishes and glasses still have a film.

The most common cause of film left behind is a broken heating element.

The heating element is not only used during the dry cycle, but also to raise the water temp. during the main wash cycle to activate the dishwasher detergent. Fixing the heating element should "clear" this problem right up!

Drying cycle

To start ensure that heating element and fan are working.
The element can be tested reading ohms with a multimeter.
The fan can be tested evengizing it.
If the fan and element are Ok, then test and eventually replace dryness sensor and timer board.
Dryness sensor can be tested using a multimeter.

No hot water, plates cold and dirty and wet

If you've installed it recently make sure the hot water tap was plumbed in and not the cold water tap, check the hot water tap temp in the house to make sure it's getting warm, there also should be a heating element located inside of the dishwaher that heats up to help the dishes dry at the end of the wash cycle, which is controled by a thermostat. If the heating element or the thermostat are bad your dishes won't dry.

Wet dishes

If the dry cycle has a problem, check these:

Heating element
Drying fan
Thermostat
Heating element Your dishwasher has an electrical heating element that helps to dry the dishes. If the element is burned out, the dishes won't dry properly, and you need to replace the element.

Drying fan Many high-priced dishwashers have a small fan that blows air or heated air into the dishwasher to speed up the drying process. If the fan is defective, you need to replace it.

Thermostat Some dishwashers have a thermostat that monitors the drying temperature. If the thermostat is defective, the heating element may not cycle on or off properly. If that's the problem, you need to replace the thermostat
