Depends on what you are doing..from some applications, it's simply a 'Save As' to the drive(assuming you can see in your computers line up)

other manner is to open the explore panel, and just drag the items over to the disk on the desktop

Backing up system

The easiest way to backup your system is to go to your local computer/electronics store and pickup an external hard drive. If you don't plan to back up a ton of info, then you could use a large flash drive and manually copy the files over. Most external hard drives will come with backup software. If it were me, I would just disconnect the hard drive before I installed the processor. Once installed, power on the computer with the hardrive disconnected. If the computer is able to load the BIOS and displays something like "Boot device not detected" or something to that effect, then your probably good, because if you did it wrong or the processor was bad, then the computer wouldn't turn on at all.

I have bought a LaCinema rugged specifically to store my i-Tunes on. I have spent hours uploading cds onto my laptop, and now have over 40gb on there. Step by step, how do I store this on the external hard...

Much better if you have back up on your external HDD as early as now.

Because if anything happen in your computer even it is brand new it will take time and money to have your files transfered to another hard drive. It will cost you like $60 or more.

Note: have back up specialy on your most important files.

How do I down load to an external drive and not the main computer

1. First, you need to select the external drive while saving any game.
2. Try to play it from External drive first, if game does not play from external drive then try to play it from the Internal drive.
3. It does not make any difference whether you are playing game from external or interna drive because both the drives will use the computer resources and softwares to play the games.

Good Luck.

I want to transfer data from my dial-up desktop, to my new laptop high-speed broadband. How?

Several ways:
1.) 4GB flash drive
2.) External USB drive (320GB or more)
3.) Burn CD or DVD on the desktop and copy to the laptop
4.) Connect them in a local or ad hoc network (not too easy)
I'm sure other expers will have more ideas...

Anyway, at the desktop, run the "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" to gather your desktop info, such as favorites, desktop icons, My Documents, etc:
[Start]
[All Programs]
[Accessories]
[System Tools]
[Files and Transfer Wizard] [Next]
At the desktop, answwer [Old Computer] [Next]
Cintinue to answer the questions
If you have a lot of music or loots of pictures, then just transfer the "Settings Only".

After a successful transfer of the settings, run the wizard again and transfer your "Data Only"

Hope this gets you started.

Uploading a cd on my acerone compuetr or how do i put a cd file on it because it does not have a cd drive

You have two ways out of this:

1 Transfer all content of CD onto an USB memory stick and copy it into the laptop.
2 you buy an external CD/DVD unit, you are going to need it if you have the acer one.
They start from $40, see the choice here.

Cant get external harddrive uploaded to my laptop

If it is a new external hard drive you may need to partition it first....

  1. Click "Start"
  2. Click "Control Panel"
  3. Double Click "Administrative Tools"
  4. Double Click "Computer Managment"
  5. Expand the section that says "Storage"
  6. Click "Disk Managment"
  7. Here you will see all the drives on your computer. You should notice a black bar that says "Unallocated Space"
  8. Right click on that , and hit "New Partition"
  9. Go through the wizard (at one point it will ask what type of drive, make it a "Primary Partition"
When you are done with the wizard you should be able to see the drive!

If you try this and have any issue's , leave a comment here and I will be more then glad to further assist you.

Photos from pc to sd

The easiest way to do this would be to buy a card reader for you PC. You can buy an external one that plugs into the USB port.

Another way is to used a computer with a SD reader and upload it into a flash drive. Once you have the flash drive, you can upload the pictures using your flash drive into the frame.
