Question about Bissell Powersteamer 1694 Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Bissell Powersteamer 1694W won't extract water from carpet. Was extracting fine until the pump/brush belt gear broke off off the pump. I repaired the gear with super glue and the brush is once again working fine. I now have an extraction problem. What did I do wrong? I took it apart and was so proud of myself when I fixed the original problem. Now I'm lost.

My Bissell carpet shampooer will not dispense water or cleaning solution, nor is the "flow indicator" spinning

most of the Bissell carpet cleaners that have the water heating feature stop pumping water at one time or another. Make sure the belt is still on the pump and if it is then the problem is probably in the heater core in the handle. Hard water deposits plug the tiny little water ways inside the heater core. Pull the heater core and take it apart and clean it with a strong scrub brush and I think vinegar works for cleaning I was told. I just use soap and a brush. Then flush all your lines with hot water. The cause is from hard water deposits or leaving the soap in the cleaner after you use it. Both will stop it from pumping water

Is there any reason the water won't come out?

You need to replace the pump belt, that is why the water is not dispensing and you need to replace the brush belt, that is why the brush isn't spinning. Here are the belts you need.

I have a Bissell PowerSteamer ClearView How do I

I removed the pump belt and the brush drive belt for replacement. I can see that the brush belt has little ridges to line up on the brush gear. Its the pump belt that I need help with. The flat belt goes over the shaft sticking out of the pump, but the other end appears to have a channel that the belt fits into and around. Only when I put it togeather that way the belt is off center, does the belt fit up over the rounded (pink) end before the channel or is it supposed to fit in the channel

How do you change the belt on my Bissell steam cleaner Model #1692

There are two belts. One is a geared drive belt that goes on the pump and the other is a flat belt that goes on the roller brush. The roller brush belt is the same as a regular vacuum. The geared pump belt is a pain in the **** and should be replaced by a vacuum repair tech. You have to disassemble the vacuum to get to it. It's really not worth the hassel when you can pay someone $10 to do it for you.

If it is the flat belt that broke, that is the pump belt, the pump can't work without it. To replace the belts, turn the unit over, remove the red holder, has one screw, pull it out, then the brush roll will come loose. You can replace the belts thru that opening.

I have a bissel carpet cleaner and the brush does not rotate when machine is on.

The brush roll is driven by a cogged belt, the brush roll will also have these cogs. If they look all right, then check the end of the pump, it has a dual pulley on it, one for the flat pump belt, and the other for a cogged belt. If the cogs are wore away or that part of the pulley broke off, then you will have to replace the pump. That pulley only comes with a pump.

Won't extract water from carpet.

Seems the 1950W is now obsolete, cna't even bring up a drawing of it. Usually when the vac. motor is running, then there has to be suction. But if a seal or gaske is missing, then the suction will be lost. So you might check the dirty water tank to make sure there isn't a part missing or out of place. Check this out, it is for a 1950-3:
