The top cap is the measuring cup. Look for lines at 3 or 5 ounces of soap. Fill the top container with water. If you cannot locate the exact F5914-900, any model series fo the F5900 will work, that can be downl;oaded for free at the Hoover Web site.

Have bissell little green model 1400. Having trouble cleaning the holding tank (dirty water) tank. The tank comes out but the stuff doesn't rinse out - its gross. I'd like to take the holding...

Do not take it apart. If you do,it is then broken.Put about1/ cup of powdered dish washer detergent,in the bowl and fill with hot water.Let that soak for a few hours. And as the shampoo folks say, rinse and repeat,if needed. This also will clean tubs, toilets, and all ceramic tile very well.

I have purchased a homemaker rice cooker (5 cup) from Kmart. the owners manual does not tell me how much water to put in for the cooking process.

I think it's the lines on the side of the bowl. For one cup of rice, fill the water up to the first line (with the rice in the bowl), and so on.

A friend loaned me her Bissell Proheat Turbo carpet cleaner and I don't know how to use it - any help?

I like these cleaners.

First vacuum your carpet very thoroughly.

Depress the lever to tilt back the handle.
Grab the tank from the base. Remove the lid.
Fill the bladder with hot tap water. Replace the lid, and place tank back into the base. Put the handle back upright until it locks into place.
Take the soap container on the side and fill it with the Bissel soap solution. Place your dial on floor cleaner, and select either soap or heavy traffic.
Turn on the machine and the heater. Take your machine to the far end of the room and depress the handle put the machine in the corner depress the trigger and you will see a little spinning thing on the machine starting to spin - this means that the solution is blending and the spray is wetting the carpet. Pull the machine slowly back towards you about three feet and then let go of the trigger and pull the machine a couple more inches. When you stop the trigger will release. Push the machine forward and repeat the pull pass this time without depressing the trigger. For the next pass - overlap each and every pass (I do each pass at the half way point). Do this along the back wall. When you depress the trigger and that spinning dial does not spin - you are either out of water or out of soap. Go over the entire room with this technique.
Now this next step is VERY important. You have to do the whole room process AGAIN - this time with NO SOAP. I have used these machines for years and trust me - if you don't go over it again - your carpet will be a magnet for dirt. This time empty out your soap cup and rinse it out and refill it with WHITE VINEGAR. Again fill your tank with hot water. Re-do the entire room as if you are shampooing the carpet.

Let the carpet dry overnight - the next morning I would recommend applying scotchguard carpet protector (you can get the cans at H.D. or Lowes. Yes the Bissell solution has scotchguard, BUT when I apply the scotchguard again - the carpet stays so much cleaner so much longer.

Do it right the first time and don't cut corners and you will have the cleanest carpet on the block. It's a long process to do it right, but the end result is worth it.

OR if you want to save money and use something more environmentally friendly - fill with white vinegar. This will work just as good and leave your carpet less sticky from the soap and your carpet will stay cleaner longer.

Where do you put the soap cleaner, does this go

Hello,
The cleaning solution goes in the top tank. Fill top tank with hot water first, then add the cleaning solution. That way it doesn't foam up. The tank lid is also a cup to measure how much solution you put in. Usually fill to top line. Make sure when you put tank on machine it snaps in place. if you have a manual, refer to it for instructions if you need to.
Hope this helps.

How do you clean the "bagless dirt cup" for my Oreck Cordfree Electrik Broom? I do not have an instruction manual since it was given to me.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The best way to clean a dirt cup is to wash it with soap and water and dry it thoroughly so that there is not water or moisture, do NOT however get the filter wet because it will lose filtration and the best way to clean the filter is to brush off the dirt, wipe off the dirt on the filter, or replace the filter id dust and dirt are getting through, other wise wash the cup only with soap and water. Also contact your local vac dealer or Oreck Store in your area or the Oreck factory @ the number listed below t get a new owner’s manual. So feel free to contact your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Where do i put the soap?

I have a Bissell Dirt Lifter that has the giant clear store compartment that you supposedly put the water in?
Do i mix the soap in with the water in this compartment or is there another location where i add the soap..
We have looked the machine over and see no other place to really put the soap...
will it ruin the machine if we just add the soap with the water in the detachable compartment?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
According to your description you do mix the water with the Bissell soap in order to dispense the solution onto the spot, it will not ruin the machine if you mix the water and soap together.
You may want to refer to your owner’s manual and check out the trouble shooting guide for no water coming out. You may want to contact the factory or manufacturer to see if they have service tech support or to send out a new owner’s manual for your current model #. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
