How do i winterize my pool

Remove all drain plugs, open any valve you can and have. split apart any union, and depending on the part of the country you live in, the permafrost is a factor. If you freeze below ground, then you will also need to empty your pool down below the lowest inlet fitting and then blow the water out of the lines.
Once clear of excess water, plug the holes so rain water does not refill them!
  • heater will have 2-4 drain/winter plugs
    • also remove the pressure switch
  • pump will normally have 2 plugs
    • Open & remove lid from hair & lint pot
  • Pool sweep booster pump has 1 plug
Any low spots in the plumbing will trap water in them. Drill & tap a hole - 1/4" Normal pipe thread - that is the most common size of a winterizing drain plug. Others may just cut the pipe right at the lowest spot and glue in a union for future winterizing.

Gas leak from valve to pool heater

Leak is probably at a connection, unless pipe is ruptured.

Use soap and put soapy water over each connection and look for bubbles in the soap.

If gas line was put in after sidewalk was poured, then there will not be a connection under sidewalk.
Buy gas detector, but cheap one may not work well especially in wind.

Broken water line or water heater, from winter freeze. When water is turned on tap water goes under the bunk bed area. Could this be the water heater or a hose in the area. We don't know the layout...

Depends on which tap you're turning ON. If it's cold water tap, it's probably a water line. If it's the hot water tap, it could also be a line. As heaters leak, whether the water tap is ON or NOT. Opening a tap valve doesn't cause the water heater to leak. The main question is, was the water heater's tank drained, before the Winter Freeze, when no one was using it? If it wasn't, there's a good chance the water heater will leak too

Hope this helps you solve the leaking water pipes problem. Please let me know Thanks.

Developed a leak after freezing weather. Have been running pool all winter.

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

unless you plan to have 40 degree days and nights, try to find the leak, in the heater..if its to cold, and the unit cant do a full defrost, i suggest you unhook the unit, or rent a large portable heater and tent the unit. if you have a small leak and can repair it you are ok, if you have major leaks, you need to replace the heat exchanger on the unit..

if you plan to have further below freezing nite's you must work fast, to prevent pipes underground from bursting.

I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response. We take the time to answer your question's. take the time to rate us.Thanks and good luck

Can you bypass the heater so pool can prime

The pool return pipes are connected to the heater with pipe unions. You could get a set of unions to match them and make a "U" shaped pipe section to bypass the heater. using a couple of 90's and the unions .

Openiong a pool toilet

Probably, all you did was to turn-off the tap inside the basement, so that no water would be inside the pipe during the winter, and so there would be chance of water freezing inside the pipes, causing expansion, and creating a leak in the pipe. Turn the water on inside the basement. The toilet-tank should start to refill, immediately. If it does not, there may be another tap right beside the toiler. Turn that tap, too.

My Lars pool heater is leaking from within the casing.

Could also be a pin hole in the small copper tube that runs from the top of the heater to the thermostat. This has happened to me a few times. Small hole, but lots of water comes out. Get some 3/8" copper tubing and 2 compression fittings. It is easy to replace this tube. The only pain is that you have to take off the top of the heater to reach the end of the tube.

Pool heater leakage

Chances are that the header or manifold is cracked. usually the heat exchanger themselves are not damaged from freeze, but either the rear manifold (header) or the front header (the one that pipes go in and out of). Sometimes both. Replacing the entire heater is not necessary, about $200 in parts usually. We have a schematic diagram of the LJ heater here: http://www.poolcenter.com/parts_heaters_lite2_lj_2003-present_pg1.htm

Winterizing a LXIH Hobart dish washer

Joe - The main issue is that the builtin booster heater is full of water - it has to be drained - there may be a small drain plug (square-shaped head), if not, you may have to pull loose the heater element to drain the tank. I would pour antifreeze solution in there and also in the wash tank. Unhook the water inlet - you say the machine is hard-plumbed in but mfgr recommends using brauided water hose to connect to water supply. hopefully this helps - I service commercial machines and came across your question and maybe you can ansqwer one of mine - how do I cancel the "delime" indicator? I can't find operators manual. jimmy.
