Hi and wlecome to FixYa. I am Kelly
Most of the time when a dishwaser starts making a grinding sound something has got into the motor pump impeller and is being raked across or on the outside edge of the impeller blades. The lower wash arm housing will have to be dis-assembled and the foreign object removed. Continued use when you hear this noise is not recommended as that noise is a result of a foreign object that can an often does cause internal damage.

There ws not a make and model number mentioned so exact details can not be provided at this time.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

Grinding sounds that last for longer than 3 minutes at a time are usually an indication of something in the wash pump. If the grinding is only for about 2 minutes at a time it would be something related to the drain pump.

It depends on the make and model on how to clean out the pump or drain pump. If you happen to have a tall tub Kitchen Aid, Whirlpool or Kenmore this link has instructions on how to do that.

Grinding sound

Is the knocking sound when the car is moving or sitting still as well? Does the grinding sound happen just as you put the car into reverse or does it keep grinding?
These transmissions are very problematic, especially if they are not properly maintained. The most likely candidates are a cracked flywheel or a broken drum inside the transmission. Either way, it sounds like the transmission will have to be removed to pinpoint the problem.

Grinding noise before spin cycle

Good Morning John,

I see that you are hearing a grinding noise before the spin cycle in your Frigidaire washer, model# GLET1031CS0. A certain amount of "grinding" or gear sounds are normal in a heavy-duty washer. If you notice that the grinding sound appears to be getting louder, I suggest contacting either the manufacturer or your local authorized technician for further assistance. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

52 grinding noise from under car . not sure if it

Hi, When a grinding noise is detected first locate the area of the car it is being generated from. Most grinding noises will be being generated while driving, if you are having a hard time detecting the location of the grinding sound, have a helper ride along in the rear seat to give a new perspective on the origin of the grinding noise. A grinding noise can be generated by many things from worn out brake pads to axle bearing failure. Once a grinding sound has been detected action must be prompt. Grinding in most cases is telling you something has failed or is failing. It can be as a result of worn out brake pads or shoes, check your engine and transmission mount, check for axle bearing failure, check your power steering system for leak...
Take care

Washer is making a grinding sound when draining water.

hi, this grinding sound is coming from the pump. the pump device seems to have a broken impeller that is located inside the pump. You will not be able to replace this internal part. This device is fixed and you will have to replace the entire pump assembly.

This will happen if some debris or coins make it threw the pump housing. these debris will settle in the pump housing near the impeller and it will grind while in operation or, draining procedure. the solid debris will eventually damage the impeller and break it off the drive bolt. this will all happen in time but, it usually starts with the minor grinding sound.

There's still grinding like sound coming from the rotors.?

Is it a scraping sound or a grinding sound? Double check that everything is good on the brakes and the shields aren't draggin on the rotors.

Xbox 360 grinding sound

Sounds like a wire hitting one of the fans inside. It could also be the hard drive if you have one. Try to change the way the console is standing and see if the sound gets worse or better to try and narrow down the issue.
