Question about Home

1 Answer

To whom it may concern, We recently bought a Hansa Polo mixer for our shower and our plumber has since installed it. However it appears it has been placed upside down, so our mixer is facing the wrong way. Is there anyway that we could get another part or handle or do something to the internal of the mixer to avoid having to pull out the entire mixer and body out of our already tiled wall, as you can imagine our frustration if we have to resort to this. Any assistance is very much appreciated. If you could direct us to anyone that would be great. Please advise Andrew

When you mean "facing the wrong way" do you mean the handle is facing up (it should be facing down so the Hansa name can read easily) and that the two backing plate screws are above the the line of the handle. Or is that the backing plate is correct but the handle is sticking up. When you turn the mixer towards hot do you get hot water or is that the pipes have been connected to the wrong inlets?

Need Model # and brief description of particular model. You may be left with no option but to call in a professional who can pull the mixer and repair it without leaving any visibly noticable marks. Pulling the tile and drywall is a simple and straight forward repair that any competant general contractor can perform. There is no modification option to a mixer. My only question is "How did your plumber manage to install your mixer upside down?"

Its a relatively straight-forward repair if you know a bit about plumbing and have an adventurous spirit. If not, I recommend calling a plumber.

My thermostatic mixer shower will not turn off

he probably put it together wrong.
there is usually a blue gasket inside for testing purposes, if that is not removed, the valve will not turn off.

I I have a 3 way bath/shower/overhead shower mixer valve to fit and am not sure where the pipes should go, there is a hot and cold feed in, but only 2 feeds out, I need feeds for 1. bath filler, 2....

When installing a flexishower head, install it in front of the actual shower head with a diverter switch. If you try to operate two shower heads at once, you may suffer poor water pressure. There are handheld shower sets sold which are installed to existing shower assemblies with ease. Rememer to use plumber's tape and protect your stainless steel by wrapping you pliers teeth in electrical tape.

My thermostatic concealed shower valve only gives either boiling hot water or cold water, there is no inbetween temperature? the cold is fed from mains and the hot from a combi boiler. the plumber has said...

If the hot and cold are fitted the wrong way round then the thermostat on the shower unit cannot operate properly!

Most thermostatic mixer showers have a 'bi-metallic' thermostat, if you supply the hot to the cold and vice versa IT WILL NOT WORK.

It is like wearing the left shoe on the right foot and the right on the left! It doesn't work.

Re-install the hot and cold to the correct supply, and this will sort it.

I hope this helps.

Bathroom stall shower

Most handheld showers use a hose to connect from the existing shower arm down to the hand held option.  Some units come with attachment points on the shower arm, but I believe that you are looking for a unit that has a hook that you can mount where ever is comfortable for you.
