Yaa you have to download atchi drivers for your SATA interface, this might be ziped or compressed, unzip/decompress it and copy all the files in a floppy disk.

Now you are ready to install XP on your SATA interface.

Start Windows XP setup normally and watch bottom line of the setup screen. A message will be appear saying -Press F6 for third party RAID driver- or like that, then press F6

Place insert the floppy in the floppy drive. Now setup will read required information from floppy and will start.

If any problem occurs just Ask me,

Here is the link for your manufacturer:

Good Luck

Check your BIOS setup for the SATA interface settings. If it's set to "Native" or something to that effect, change it to "Compatible" or "IDE" or similar, and try installing XP again.
As a last resort, you may need to supply SATA drivers for your motherboard (unpacked, with all the individual files visible) during the setup, when it says something like "press [something] to supply 3rd party device driver". The problem is, that Windows expects it on a diskette...

HOW TO INSTALL WIN XP ON SATA HDD ON MSI K8MM -V M/B

If your copy of Win XP does not recognize the SATA drive (i.e. Early copy of XP) you will need to use the F6 option and load the SATA driver that came with the MSI mother board.

your HDD may be bad. I have had a number of HDD that appear fine in the BIOS but won't format either via the install disk or separately via a Linux boot disc.(You can somtimes hear them clicking on and off [seeking])

If you are mad keen on the drive, then D/L 'Hirens Boot Disc' and boot into the DOS mode (it also has a Mini XP mode).and use the HDD format utlity 'killdisk'. This will remove anything on the drive, format it and set it up ready for a fresh install.

If Hirens Boot Disk can't see the SATA drive then its stuffed.. for sure..

Asus P4S800D-X mobo and sata hdd problem

I believe you need to load in the SiS 180 RAID controller for this MOBO during the Windows Install.

Do this by loading the driver onto a floppy and pressing F6 when told to do so by the windows install.
