My screen is dark. I mean that if in the room there is a lot of light I can see that the image is displayed correctly but it's very hard to see because it's dark. I also noticed that if the lcd turn off because I don't touch anything, when I touch move the mouse the display turn on and the brightness is good but in a few seconds it turns dark.

What can be? the inverter? the backlight? or something else?

It's a shame this has happened to you. Coincidentally, even relatives have submitted similar complains about their LCD's. Two things may be wrong: a. Your LCD connector is damaged. b. Your screen has packed up. The solution to either is to contact a qualified technician to fix it up, or return to dell for fixing. Op u get out of this mess. Thanks.....

My dell inspiron 1300 notebook seems to be working but I cannot see anything on the screen. I was told to hook it up using a VGA cord to a monitor to solve the problem. It doesnt seem to be working and...

after u connect it to VGA u need to change the display signal interface to monitor from lcd, the option is available in display properties in Control panel
under Display prop, go to Settings/Advanced/Monitor or Adaptor depending on the choice.
there u will get LCD or Monitor or TV to chose.
the big ? is if you cant view anything on the LCD laptop how will u do it....?
check if u can view any bit of display in ur laptop like a filim negative....if it's totaly dark then u may visit a tech shop to replace the lcd screen

Dell E1705...Same problem...lights on boot up

If the screen goes dark after BIOS, there is a software conflict - either a driver or screen resolution was set incorrectly. a couple of ideas to solve:
boot from disk, or another hard drive - if this works, it confirms the software conflict - which would mean having to re-install the OS.

Laptop screen goes dark after booting .

your issue with your laptop is a faulty ccfl BackLight Inverter, the display uses the backlight to illuminate the lcd screen, the inverter is used to illuminate the cold cathode light in the back of ther lcd theirs countless places to laern about it on google.
They are cheap to replace google your model with inverter at the end..

They are not too hard to replace

HP Pavilion, Screen working, but extremely dark!

Hi,
As per your description, I find that the issue is with the LCD Backlight which is also called as LCD Inverter which lights up the LCD to show us the Display on the LCD Display.
If this Backlight is gone bad, you will be barely able to see the Display on the LCD.
Coming to the Noise you had mentioned above can be from the Cooling fans of the Notebook which will be spinning at high speed when the Notebook starts and will reduce gradually after few minutes.
I recommend you to try cleaning the Cooling fan vents using any Vacuum Cleaner or Air Blower.
I recommend you to contact any nearest HP Authorized Service Center and get the LCD Backlight replaced.
Hope this helps....
