I have already installed The Magellan Integrated Ford F150 Navigation System can locate it's current location. I installed it an it thinks I'm in San Franciso and I am in North Georgia. The locate button starts a little satellite to turning but it never ends... If there is a way to reset it can someone tell me how? If sotware is involved which software and who distributes it? Is there a way to do a hard reset or should I return it for my money back?

  • fyates May 01, 2010

When trying the ++--+-, which screen should I start from?

Should this unit RM FD71 have come with an SD card? Because it did not.

    Thanks.

  • fyates May 02, 2010

Yes, i tried driving the car around. I also tried initializing the GPS and nothing seemed to be happening and I drove around following that... I also noticed that when I try to view the GPS status, like in the manual, I only get data in the last 3 columns and nothing in the first 5 columns at all. The F/W version is 5.36.

How can the reset be done? RoadMate Integrated (Ford F150 Dashboard mounted) FD71 unit.

  • fyates May 03, 2010

Drove the truck with the Magellan in open space for hours yesterday. It's either in need of a hard reset or being returned to the factory. I cannot initialize it or get it to "locate" itself no matter where I drive it or park. Do you know how to do a hard reset on this unit?

  • fyates May 03, 2010

The unit is deinitely dysfuntional. I was not offered any software updates, so the unit must be defective and therefore, I must return it.

    Thanks.

Dear fyates,
This happen either due to corruption of software or due to non functioning of receiver.......
So first update or reinstall your software... If problem persist then Sorry, you have to get it serviced........

It seems it is not picking up a signal by what you have explained.I would check if it has an internal antenna or if it is an external one then check the connection to it.A reset also may resolve this problem.

I cannot tell the exact procedure for a reset on this device but I would suggest you check the manual for this. Another thing you need to bear in mind is that some places may be obscured by trees or buidings and I would suggest you test if another GPS is picking up any signal in your area.

Hi.

Did you drive the vehicle for a couple of minutes? The GPS synch with the satellite when you are moving. If the truck is parked, the GPS often does not locate the satellite.

To reset completely a not-integrated Magellan Roadmate you press the sequence ++--+- , then access to the hidden menu. I do not know if this work on the integrated system.

Regards.

    Hi.

The sequence works on the Roadmate. I don't think it works on the integrated system.

There is no much documentation for this system. Here all I got:

    Installation Procedure (483kb)

    Basic Operation Instructions (859kb)

    Reference Manual (2.28mb)
Installing A Magellan Integrated Ford F150 Navigation System

Try initialuze GPS in the Manual at page 77-78.

    Hi.

If data are displayed incorrectly, then there is probably a fault.

Magellan does not provide online uploads for the integrated system.

Better to call Magellan to check if an update is available.

Here the contact: Magellan GPS-Contact Us

    Regards.

    Hi.

The hard reset for this unit had not been published.

Try calling Magellan and asking if they are awar of the hard reset procedure.

Try disconnecting the car ground battery after ensuring you have the car stereo code if needed.

Reset for the hand units are different and will not apply.

Try holding Menu, and On button at the same time. That wakes up hidden menu on several models. On hidden menu select Reset user data.

If that does not work, contact magellan an ask if the procedure is known to their tech support. We only have the procedures for the handhelds (- + sequence or - and button on top of the handheld). This procedures do not work on the integrated.

    See:Magellan GPS-Contact Us

    Regards.

Change the time on the magellan roadmate 1212?

I was in same situation with a magellan roadmate 1212. From what I can tell, the "daylight savings" is not what many of us may be accustomed to... that is, that it means that the location you are at follows daylight savings as happens with Windows or many other devices.

I bet those in Arizona never had a problem becuase they don't follow time zone... let me explain....

The daylight savings seems to state "are we currently under daylight savings time?" if we say yes (as you would normally state in your Windows computer setting (that would determine when daylight starts and stops and adjust pc time accordingly), the magellan 1212 instead will "ADD" one hour to the time stated by the Satellites regardless on whether it is summer ... or not.

So, if you happen to live in a time zone that follows "daylight savings" and you currently are under "daylight savings" time, then set it so in the "time zone".

So, there are two things you have to do:

/menu/user options/system settings/time zone/

1)Set your time zone
2)If currently under Set/unset the daylight savings set button to yes and manually move to no when not on DLS.

The explanation I found in MagellanGPS website is below, but never mentions what is the meaning (I should say effect) of the "daylight savings" button checkmark.

Magellan GPS receivers are not able to set the Time manually. In order to have the correct time set on your Magellan GPS receiver, you must set the proper time zone you are located in (ie Pacific, Central or Eastern). Once the time zone is set the exact hour and minute will display as information is received from the satellites. The following information will assist you on setting the time zone on your Magellan GPS. For Outdoor Triton series 200, 300, 400, 500, 1500 and 2000
  1. From the map screen press Menu and select View
  2. Select profiles and press Enter
  3. Select hiking and press Enter
  4. Press the Page/Go To key once and scroll down to select time zone
  5. Press Enter to select your time zone and Enter again to confirm.
  6. Press ESC repeatedly until you return to the map screen.
Note: Make sure Daylight Savings is adjusted accordingly. For Vehicle Navigation series Maestro and RoadMate 1200-1430
  1. From the map screen select Menu
  2. Select User Options
  3. Select System Settings
  4. Select Time Zone
Note: Make sure Daylight Savings is adjusted accordingly
