Hello and thank you for reading, My computer won't stop rebooting itself regardless of what hard drive I plug in, it gives me the "Windows didn't start ... please use the up and down keys to choose .... safe mode, safe mode with network, command prompt start windows normally, last know configuration" Regardless of what I choose it's start to load then there will be a beep and it'll be as if I just turned on the computer, the bios info will be there and I will get lead back to the windows didn't start screen.

When you say "regardless of what hard drive I plug in" worries me.

If you didn't install windows on the hard drive you're using while it was in your computer it won't work. Windows needs to see all devices as it is installed.

My best guess for you is to install windows again onto a hard drive.

Failing that you could download one of the linux O/S, say UBUNTU, and that will load onto your pc without installing so you can look at the data on the HDD's.

Finally there's the ultimate boot for windows CD which loads a windows shell onto your PC without installing and provides loads of diagnostic tools.

Both the last two items are freely available to download at the end of a GOOGLE.

SOURCE: My computer won't stop rebooting

Base from the description of your problem its clear that your operating system is already corrupted and needs to be repair or better to do a clean installation of the operating system, in order for you to repair the operating system you need a XP installation disc and then load that from there you will be able to repair the system or do a clean installation.

My Dell Inspiron 6400 (Windows XP Home) won't reboot. It's giving me a "Loading PBR for descriptor 1 ... done" line on a black screen. What can I do to fix it. Can I salvage my content / files

Before you use the Recovery CD you need to backup your data because to restoring your laptop will wipe your data off the hard disk.
To backup your data when you cannot boot up your laptop, remove the hard drive and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter. Connect this hard drive/USB adapter into the USB port of a working computer. The computer will see it as an external storage device, you can then open the folders and backup your data.
You can then fit the hard drive back into the Dell laptop and boot up with the Dell recovery CD to reinstall Windows etc.

Need to reboot my toshiba satellite L750D laptop with Windows 7

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Doesn't sound good!

Either the hard drive itself or the drive controller seems to be faulty. The first step I would take would be to dismantle the hard drive enclosure and fit the drive directly into a PC or purchase another external hard drive enclosure and try it in that - you can find enclosures cheaply on ebay. Ensure you buy the correct type i.e. ATA or SATA.

If that does not work then you may have to resort to a specialist to recover your data - a google search on 'hard drive recovery' will give you some options.

Laptop won't boot.

if the hard drive is suspect, then you should be able to boot from a windows cd if you have one, usually you can do this by hitting F11 or F12 dependent on laptop type to boot from CD/DVD Drive instead of hard disk, you can then check hard drive using chkdsk util on windows cd

Laptop powers down 5 seconds after turning on

Straight forward method would be to download Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset from microsoft.com, write it to a bootable CD. Make your Laptop bootable from CD drive (ie. is change the sequence of booting. At present it will be booting from Hard disk.) Boot from the CD you just created. Check what is the problem. And possible repair can be done. Check this link.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee460910.aspx

But.. may be a little difficult.
And while I am at this, be careful when you take out a hard disk from one laptop and insert it in another laptop. Even though it is from the same manufacturer, it may not be compatible.
Another easier option would be to get hold of a desktop computer that is working. Get a cable which can be used to connect your laptop Hard disk to the desktop. A desk top allows multiple drives. This way you can get the laptop HDD as a seperate drive in your My computer, (like you see a pendrive or a CD drive. You can try reading this drive and copy content to the desktop. And burn it to a CD. May be a little more easier. If you have difficulty in reading the Laptop HDD, you can download one or the other programs that helps in reading corrupted drives. Good luck.

My Gateway GT4010 PC keeps rebooting itself before

Try replacing the hard drive cable. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you may have bad RAM, bad motherboard or a bad power supply. Sounds like a hardware issue and not software. try booting your computer in safe mode since it doesn't load all the device drivers. If it still reboots then you'll have to keep swapping parts and booting up the computer to isolate the problem.
