The mic connects to the computer not the monitor. It will work if you connect it to the Mic Input port and have it set right. You may or may not need a driver.

If that doesn't work test the mic on another PC see if the mic works, if it doesnt work then your mic is broken, if it does then there is something wrong with your audio driver or Mic port.

Toshiba satelite isn't recognizing that the

Have you tried using a different mic? If its a cheap mic It may have very well just quit working(or never worked).
Is it a new laptop? If not, any previous issues/problems?

"Apparently" the drivers are updated? "Apparently" isn't exactly a good term to use when it comes to something like drivers. Its either: Yes, they are or No, they are not. Make sure they are first.

To test if the mic is/isn't working go to Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices>Advanced Button(Bring up the Mixer)>Properties>Make sure Mic is checked in the list. Go back to the mixer, and un-mute the mic and slide the volume bar all the way if it isn't already. Now talk into the mic, is it playing threw the speakers? Yes? No?

From what you've provided I would guess its just a bad/broke mic. I'd suggest investing in something better, like a headset with the mic built in(as you'll probably need one at some point anyways).

Mic is not working

  • check the sound adapter on the system-device manager, check if it is properly working or else
  • install sound driver/ motherborad driver (if built-in)
  • check the mic volume set it to highest possible volume.
  • use other/external mic device/s, it can be the internal mic built in has the problem

Pc desktop front panel audio out /mic in doesnt work

what kind of panel and what kind of computer.
Sometimes the mic in on the monitor must be connected from the back of the display to the mic in of the PC
If the monitor has a usb interface as well it may need new drivers.

Verify all your connections and get back to me with the model numbers.
