3.2 ounces from dead empty. Check oil level with tool laid out on a bench, standing upright on it's gas tank, with accessory/trimmer head dangling off of side of bench. Crankcase is filled when oil plug is removed and oil level can be seen just up to the threads of the plug hole. Check before every use, especially if unit sees work tilted to one side as an edger - a little oil is consumed when it slips past the ring pack in this position.

Oh, forgot! They spec a straight weight, non detergent 30 weight oil. (SAE 30) I found 10w-30premium car engine oil to be just fine though, no need to jump through hoops on this. Straight 30 weight can sometimes be sold as "Tractor oil" in various supply shops, be sure to read fine print to catch "SAE 30" *IF* you must have factory recommended oil(s).

03 yzf 250f how to change oil

This engine holds one quart of standard Yamaha YZ 250 engine oil. The oil filter is located on the rear of the crankcase behind the suspension spring. The oil filter looks like a small metal can that is screwed into the top rear of the crankcase. On the bottom of the crankcase is the plug that will need to be removed to drain the oil from the crankcase. Anyone who owns this model dirt bike can complete this job in about 10 minutes.

Crankcase

In an internal combustion engine of the reciprocating type, the crankcase is the housing for the crankshaft. The enclosure forms the largest cavity in the engine and is located below the cylinder(s), which in a multicylinder engine are usually integrated into one or several cylinder blocks. Crankcases have often been discrete parts, but more often they are integral with the cylinder bank(s), forming an engine block. Nevertheless, the area around the crankshaft is still usually called the crankcase. Crankcases and other basic engine structural components (e.g., cylinders, cylinder blocks, cylinder heads, and integrated combinations thereof) are typically made of cast iron or cast aluminium via sand casting. Today the foundry processes are usually highly automated, with a few skilled workers to manage the casting of thousands of parts.
A crankcase often has an opening in the bottom to which an oil pan is attached with a gasketed bolted joint. Some crankcase designs fully surround the crank's main bearing journals, whereas many others form only one half, with a bearing cap forming the other. Some crankcase areas require no structural strength from the oil pan itself (in which case the oil pan is typically stamped from sheet steel), whereas other crankcase designs do (in which case the oil pan is a casting in its own right). Both the crankcase and any rigid cast oil pan often have reinforcing ribs cast into them, as well as bosses which are drilled and tapped to receive mounting screws/bolts for various other engine parts.
Besides protecting the crankshaft and connecting rods from foreign objects, the crankcase serves other functions, depending on engine type. These include keeping the motor oil contained, usually hermetically or nearly hermetically (and in the hermetic variety, allowing the oil to be pressurized); providing the rigid structure with which to join the engine to the transmission; and in some cases, even constituting part of the frame of the vehicle (such as in many farm tractors).

I have briggs and stratton powered mower with the 18.5 v-twin ohv intek engine modle 407777 type 0121-E5 CODE 000512ZYG MY PROBLEM IS THAT MY CRANKCASE IS FULL OFA GAS OIL MIXTURE THE OIL FILTER ALSO...

When the float in the carb sticks, it allows fuel to drain into the cylinder, that runs pass the rings into the crankcase. When the crankcase is full the pistons cannot go down, and the starter won't turn the engine. Drain all the oil gas mixture, and refill with proper oil. Replace float, needle and seat in the carb bowl. Throughly clean fuel passages, and bowl. If motor won't turn, remove spark plug and turn over engine a few times to remove gas oil mixture from the cylinder too.

I am geting oil in my air intaket

Check any crankcase venting used on your engine (pcv valve, breather system etc) if any are plugged it will develop positive pressure inside that will drive oil out. If venting is clear, you can have a worn or broken piston ring which will allow compression to enter oil pan which cannot be eliminated by vent system. Generally though you would have plug fouling on any cylinder with that problem. Overall ring wear from time and miles can also contribute to this condition...slight wear in all cylinders can amount to a certain amount of "blowby" which in total cannot be eliminated by venting system. In that case, if condition is not severe, sometimes changing to a high mileage type oil, a synthetic, or using an additive like marvel oil can slow down, stop or slowly reverse some of the problem.
What not to do: Do not use a single grade or heavier single grade oil...in general this will worsen the problem.
