Oil burning on 02 impala with 3800 engine use a quart in 100 miles

how dirty is the oil. check PCV valve, check compression both dry and wet, it could be valve seals, could have bad oil rings, leaking intake gasket. just some things to check.

My 1997 cadillac deville, northstar w/85, regular oil changes, burns almost 2 quarts of oil every change. It is not leaking.

If your car is losing oil, and if there is no evidence of oil leaking, there is no question that it is either losing it through piston rings or through the head (head gasket or valve guides).
Best thing to do is use a HEAVIER WEIGHT oil than specified for the vehicle when new, regularly monitor your oil level and be sure it never falls below one quart low, and consider having the engine overhauled when you start noticing a performance deficit or hear mechanical noise (such as rod knock) from the engine.

2006 subaru forester burning oil

burning oil usually is bad rings or vALVE SEALS either takes considerable man hours to fix so it will be costly . they do sell an additive for that but I have no idea if it works . I suggest you check the oil weekly or even daily , not monthly might save you blowing the motor completely

2006 subaru forester burning oil

never-- I repeat never --use a used car dealer to do repairs on your car
The people employed are seldom qualified mechanics and they only know how to "bodgie" jobs just to get the car ready for a sale
oil will not leak from a head if the engine is running well , but oil will leak from faulty rocker cover gaskets
from your description, I suspect that when the car went in for the head gaskets a clapped out motor was fitted instead ( check engine numbers on the papers )
If you need a motor , there are plenty of good engines from japanese
engine importers
But at best do not have anything to do with that shop as the engine rebuild could be changing the engine back for your original motor

The engine uses alot of oil. The head gasket and valve seats were replaced. And the problem stills exist.it uses a half to a full quart within 100 miles

Well if it's not leaking it, it must be burning it. Do you notice blue smoke out your exhaust? You say that the head gasket and valve seats were done. How about the valve guides? Oil can go past worn valve guides and valve seals. The only other place that oil can be getting by is past the piston rings.

1997 cadillac head gasket blown

HI, you will know if your gasket(head) is blown if you see white smoke coming form the tail pipe during normal operating conditions like, acceleration and, idle. you may also see smoke coming ou the oil fill cap when you unscrew it after taking a long drive. this is the cause of the coolant mixing with the oil. If this is the case, replace these gaskets before the head are damaged asap.

2001 stratus 4cyl dohc uses a quart of oil every 100 miles with no vivible signs of leak or smoke. what could be the reason.

That much oil has got to be going somewhere!! If you are SURE its not being burned, it has a bad seal or gasket somewhere. Have you had it inspected underneath on a hoist??
