Question about Hunter (25417) Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

I have a hunter ceiling fan and the fan would not work. I opened the wiring box on the fan and discovered the black CBB61 part had overheated and was not working. I checked the motor function by wiring around the box and the motor works fine. Where can I get a replacement part?

That black box is a capacitor . You should be able to find a replacement at most building or lighting supply stores. Try Lowes, Home Depot.

How to eliminate receiver/transmitter in hunter 28425

Open the box at the bottom of the ceiling fan, where the switch is. You should find the receiver inside there. You'll find one white wire connected to it, and two black wires also connected to it. Remove the white wire completely or cap it off with a wire nut. Connect the two black wires to each other with a wire nut. Reassemble the ceiling fan. If the problem was the receiver, then the problem is now gone because the receiver is gone.

How part no. CBB61 can replace part no. 84368?

CBB61 isn't a part number. it's more like a 'Type' number. The thing that matters is the uF (microfarad) value of the capacitor. If the uF value is close it (+ or - 1 uF) it will work fine.

We purchased the Hunter Ceiling fan over a year ago and it has worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago. When we turn on the light it just continuously blinks on and off.

there is a watt governor, or black box for the lights to cut down on wattage or energy use. you can remove the black box for the lighting, and wire it directly to the main wires. white wire to white wire, and black wire to red wire. black and red are always a hot wire and white is a neutral wire. the part number on black box should be 98480-02. this should stop the lights from blinking. have a good day !

I am having a problem adding a hunter 28550 light to my existing hunter ceiling fan. The fan works fine but I can not get the light to work.

It's possible whoever installed the fan originally, did not connect the black/white striped wire to the electric box. Drop the ceiling canopy and let me know what you find.

I am having difficulty wiring my hunter ceiling fan

For the fan alone, you hook the black wire from the fan to the black wire in your electrical box; white to white. If there is a red wire it's for the light, hook it to the black wire from the box. If you let us know what wires are available in your box and what's coming out of the fan and whether the fan has a light and whether the box is wired for separate lighting, we could go a long way towards solving your problem in more definitive terms. Hunter is a premium fan, their package directions are good.

Hunter fan/light control wiring

solution depends on how many wires are in the ceiling box. was there a ceiling fan in place before? were the light and fan controlled by seperate switches or was there only one switch? if two switches, then there should be two seperate hot wires in the ceiling box. if only one switch, then only one hot wire in box. if only one, then your black and red from the fan will wire together to the single hot. green goes to the bare copper wire, if not one, then not needed
