I have just pulled my dishwasher apart and found a small crack in the plastic part that connects the wash pump to the motor. The screaching noise is the shaft spining in the fitting. Yet another example of **** designed to break.

Replace the impeller assembly and it will be good.

I have the same problem as of yesterday May 1, 2010. I can move the water pump on the bottom and it comes on and begins to wash but it acts like it is in a bind. I tried to check to see if something was in it but i could find anything that might hang it up.

Kenmore elite he5t front loading washer door locks, unlocks, then locks again before beginning cycle

This is aself test procedure on the door locking mechanism . You will also hear a click, the drum will make a partial turn, and the door will unlock berore locking again. Once the door has locked a second time the washer will begin tumbling and adding water. The sensing process will continue until the correct amount of water is added to the load.

Washer doesn't fill with water and begin wash cycle. I can hear it instantly draining out rather than fill, and has ran my well dry. We replaced the water pump a month ago, and it washed a few loads of...

Sounds like siphoning. This can happen if your drain pipe is too low and you run the drain hose right into it, or if there isn't any kind of air gap between the drain hose and pipe. Usually it shows up when trying to fill for the rinse cycle - it drains as fast as it fills. Or it might not fill at all. Order a "siphon break kit". They're cheap and easy to install

Washer stopped at begin of wash cycle

The problem seems to lie in the rubber backed mat. If the rubber has begun to peel of the mat it often-times get stuck in the drain pump. The best thing to do at this point is to disconnect the electrical cord, open up the machine, drain out the water as best as possible disconnect the power cord to the drain and the hoses. Clean out the drain pump. reassemble. You should be good to go., Unless the drain pump is burned out (left running plugged up too long) if thats the case, replacement of the pump may be neccessary.... Hope this helps...Good luck!.... When washer is filling it makes a load screeching noise

Hi, welcome...
Your water pump is going bad most likely. This is easy to diagnose and also easy to repair. Under the control panel on top is a "tech sheet" that explains how to put the washer in "test mode". Set the machine in test mode and run the water pump independently and you will probably hear this same "schreeching" sound. The water pump runs at the begining of the wash cycle to recirculate the water and mix the detergent with the incoming fresh water. You also can "check" this by using the "PERMA PRESS" cycle. The perma-press does not use the recirculation feature, so the schreeching noise will be delayed to the first rinse cycle if the pump is bad.
The part number is 420325P and you can get them from http://www.fisherpaykelparts.net

GE washing machine does not run, gives humming noise

A washing machine is a simple product.

When trouble shooting anything you have to know what is supposed to do and what is it not doing.

At the begining of a washing machine cycle the machine fills with water until a switch is made telling the machine it is full and ready to agitate. Since it never fills it will stick in that part of the cycle.

When you start a cycle and no water enters the drum you have one of three problems:

1. The water supply is shut off.
2. The solenoid valve that supplies the water is not opening.
3. No power to the washing machine.

Since you are hearing a hum, the machine seems to be trying to activate that valve,
The humming noise comes from the electromagnetic field that activates the valve,
