Sounds like the call forward no answer isn;t set up on your extension. The first thing to do is to find out what the voice mail pilot number is. That's done by pressing feature 982. The display should say "set:xxx". The set number provided is the voicemail pilot number.
Next you'll need to enter system programming.
Programming is done on 7310, 7324 and 7316 type sets.
Enter programming by pressing the feature key followed by **266344.When prompted to enter the password enter 266344. The screen should say TERMINALS&SETS. The 4 top line/feature keys are now used for programming At the terminals&sets prompt, press the show key (top right arrow). The display should now ask for an extension number.
Enter extension number you want to change call forward no answer on. Press the show key (top right arrow) The display should say LINE ACCESS Press the next key (bottom right arrow) . The display should say CAPABILITIES. Press the show key (top right arrow) . The display say foward no answer. press theshow key (top right arrow).. The display should say none. Press the chng key and enter in the voice mail pilot number.
press the show key again (top right arrow) To review the rings til forward. Press the chng key if you wish to change the ammount of rings til answered.
Press the release key when finished
Actually, PiyushVig's answer is completely incorrect. The Calendar icon on both the front screen and the main screen are not always there. They only show up for a reason, and that is because there is a calendar event scheduled for that day. (Likewise there is no setting in the phone to show or not show the calendar icon. If you have an event scheduled for that day, the calendar icon will show and there is no changing that feature.) Today I had the same problem as the person who asked this question. There are no events scheduled for today yet the phone displays the calendar icon on both the main screen and the front screen of my Samsun Convoy SCH-U640 cell phone. So I just got off the phone with Samsung support to see if I could resolve this issue. They told me that there is no reason for the calendar icon to show up when there are no events scheduled for that day. They had me do a soft boot (shut off phone and remove battery for 20 seconds then replace battery and turn phone back on) and that did not work. I also tried actually programming an event for today and then erased it but that did not make the bogus calendar even alert icon go away. So Samsung Support's conclusion to this issue is exactly what I suspected before I even called them; it's simply a software glitch (which is annoying for those Convoy users that really use and rely on the calendar function).

Hi, I'd love to help you with the problem you described.
Connect your phone line (out of the wall or your phone modem supplied by your phone or cable company) into the jack on your MFC-240 has a picture that is shaped like a little telephone. These jacks are located on the lower left back corner when you are facing your printer.
In the same location, there is another jack right next to the one you just plugged into. Take the phone cord that came with your printer and plug one end into the jack.
Plug the other end of this cord into the base of your phone or answering machine.
Test your connections by picking up your phone handset and listening for a dial tone.
Next, set the receive mode your printer for fax only (if you set the receive mode to phone/fax or other mode, you could experience problems with your voice mail). Fax only will ensure that your printer will only answer fax calls. Here's how you do it.
Press the menu key on your MFC-240
Press 0 (display switches to initial set up)
Press 1 (display switches to receive mode)
Fax only should be the first item that shows on the display.
Press the ok button on your MFC-240. The machine is now ready to receive faxes.
If you have not done so already set up either your answering machine or your cable company voice mail.

The previous solution only works for older machines. I have the same Panasonic model and this works every time. On your handset, hit the top center button(menu). Touch the arrow down button 7 times. Should say "Initial settings". Hit top right button on handset (display shows this is now the "select" key). Display now shows "Set Answering". Hit top right button again ( select key). Display now reads "Ring Count". Hit arrow down button 2 times. Display now reads "Remote Code". Hit select key again and enter your desired 2 digit remote code. Hit "Off" key. When you call the answering machine from the road, simply enter those same digits. Piece of cake. Enjoy.
is there any thing on the screen atm on the direct page of ur phone its saying press function and go though the settings or it says Caller ID is not available in all areas. Please check with your local phone company.
call your phone service and have them disconnect the voice mail and if they cant just remove that have them set there rings at like 9 since most phones only have up to 5 rings for the machine to answer.you will have to use there voice mail service to hear your message and then delete it but should be good after that. i have comcast and they said it would take 3 days to deactivate voice mail but told me how to get there so i can get rid of that flashing light, hope this helps you
