Trace the cable coming out of the pump and see where it goes, it may go to a pump relay switch that has a green and red button on or it may go into a control box and wired into a timer which could be set to not come on so will need turning onto manual or timed. Other than those two applications pumps are'nt really wired any other way.

I'm trying to start pump at beginning of a new pool season - pump is buzzing but now working. Anything I can try?

didnt specify make model size or anything about the pump-generic answer--im assuming now means not working --most pumps buzzing or humming would mean jammed -bearing locked -or seized--you will need to disconnect power and gain access to the pump when you do try to turn impeller if frozen will need to examine if pump or motor is stuck try lubing all bearings and try moving unit back or forth to free unit --

My Whisperflow pump 1HP started for a second then stopped. I switched the breakers and still flip the breaker and want com on.

are you hearing anything from the motor when you rest the breaker? like a slight hummmmmmmm? or you cant reset the breaker? at any rate both mean your motor is bad. all pool supply stores can sell you a new motor and if you can replace it your self they can direct you to a experienced pool repair man.

Kreepy ctawler sistematicly get out of water line and **** air. Is any adjustment available? PEK1950@gmail.com

if plugged into skimmer, you can get a regulator and turn down. if plugged into dedicated line you should have a valve at the pump to control suction and turn down.

After I vacuum the pool, backwash it and then turn the filter system back on it blows in a lot of green water back into the pool. What should I do?

1st Green water is algee. Kill the algee in the pool. 2nd when you're finished backwashing the filter. Stop pump and move valve handle to rinse position. Then restart pump. Run in rinse mode until glass is clear. Then stop pump again, and move lever to filter position. When you're backwashing, you're reversing the flow of the water through the filter. When you switch directly back to filter, anything left loose in the filter flows back to the pool. When you select rinse, it reverses the flow back to normal, but keeps the water going to the waste outlet until clear, that way that green puff of water will go out the drain. Dayton mfg time switch for pool pump no info on the switch, model no or anything other than mfg. 240 V to a GFI to a throw switsh to the pump motor.Switch is 5 pole (A,1,2,3,4) How do I wire this properly...

I don't know about your GFI, but it probally wires off one of the hot leads.
As for the others two come in (line) and two go out (load) The two that come in will hook to the two leads that have seperate leads running to the clock motor as this needs power all the time. These are probally small wires that come off the main terminals and go behind the clock wich is where you will find the clock motor.
The leads going to the pool motor will hook to the other two terminals.
Your last terminal is probally a ground.
If you take the gut to a pool store they can probally match it. Home Depot or the like will have to many other types to match.
The new one will have instructions and a sticker for your door on the clock for future reference.
Hope this helps, good luck.

I need to drain my inground pool with a heyward pump the water level is down just past the skimmer, do I need to close a valve so the pool will continue to drain from the main drain in the deep end? or...

You can try this but you run the chance of loosing the prime and burning up the pump. if the water is below the skimmer your already further than you should be.
What you need to do is get a submercibal pump. You can usually rent one at one of the big home centers, (Home Depot, Lowes...) or a rental yard. This will cost twenty or thirty dollars and that is a lot cheaper than a new pump. Also if your planing on cleaning the pool it will pick it's own prime so you can wash and rinse the pool.
