Could be interference but have you tryed to reset the device? your settings will be lost? I supose you use a encryption so your going to have to enter it again to the settings.

I just conected my DI-524 with a new cable modem

The first question is whether your change of service provider really has any connection with your new lack of range. If your new cable modem contains a wireless router, it's possible it is interfering with your old router. You only need one, so in that case you should remove your DLink and configure your wireless cable router to your satisfaction. Otherwise, you may have coincidentally picked up a new source of interference; you may want to change the channel on your DLink router to see if that improves your range. The third possibility is that your DLink radio is going sour with age -- it happens -- and may simply need replacement.

DI-524 wired/wireless access point

Just for fun, make the router give out IP addresses starting at 192.168.0.101 forward. Configure the AP at 192.168.0.2 with no DHCP (the host will give out the addresses), a netmask of 255.255.255.0, and a gateway of 192.168.0.1. Now, let the laptop find DHCP, or give it a 192.168.0.x address where x is greater than 2 but less than 101.

How lucky is that?

Carl

It looks like the 524 will support WPA-PSK.
Try this:

If your 524 doesn't look like this you amy need to update the firmware.

D-Link Airplus di-524 wireless problem

Hello.

The status light is blinking in all dlink models, so that is normal.

The wireless radio issues have 3 possible solutions.

1. This model has a antenna that screws in the bnc socket behind it see if it's well screwed, or substitute it by another if 2 and 3 don't fix it.

2. On the advaced settings of the wireless configuration you have the ratio of radio broadcast from 25% to 100% check to see if it's on 100%, change channel to 11 if neer and 6 if far, make sure you have SSID broadcast enabled.

3. This models allow you to restart the AP unit and the router unit idependently, so it's always good pratice to restart your AP in the tools and system comands menu.

Hope that helps.

Cant connect my laptop wirelessly...

Try to reconfigure your wireless network on your DI-524.

To access the configuration page of your router by Default type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1. On the login page by default the Username is admin and leave the Password blank.

If inside the the configuration page of the router

>Click Home
> Click on WIRELESS located on the left side and you will have the wireless setting of your network
> Change the wireless network name
> Under security choose either WEP or WPA -PSK for this type of router.
> Type in your new network key (also know as Passphrase of Key1).

For WEP use 0 to 9 Number or A to F character and it should be exactly 10 characters.
For WPA-PSK you can use alpha numeric from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. The minimun character would be 8.

> Click on apply
> Click on continue.
Try accessing your wireless network first using your wireless computer. If you are connected to your wireless network try connecting to the Internet.

Dlink di-524 connect to RV042

Hi.

You need to cascade the Dlink wireless router to your RV042.

Suppose your RV042 has a default IP Address of 192.168.1.1, and the DLINK IP uses 192.168.0.1. Your Physical connection is from the regular port of the RV042 going to the WAN/Internet Port of the DLink wireless router.

Once you do that, your Dlink router should automatically obtain an IP from the main router. If it did, configure your wireless settings and you should be able to connect via wireless.

This is just one way to cascade your router to another router.

Have D-link 704 router, can I connect the DI-524 to it also to add wireless?

Hi, I have not tried it myself with DLink but with LinkSys, yes it will work. It may take a little configuration tinkering but should work. However a few notes: 1. You should only have 1 DHCP server (both have this feature); 2. You can not have 2 identical IP address; 3. I suggest you make the 524 as the gateway and the 704 as a slave; 4. In effect you will connect 1 of the LAN port of the 524 to the WAN input of the 704; 5. You have to copy the WAN settings of the 704 to the WAN settings of the 524; 6. Or if you want to retain the 704 as the gateway, disable the identical features in the 524. I suggest you treat the 524 as a client of the 704. Hope this gives you some idea and work out for you as it did with my LinkSys. Goodluck and kind regards.
