Some watches do have a battery inside for reserve energy if it is an older watch 10 years it may need a new battery...or the one in it is bad...it's hard to say when in doubt just replace the battery since it only costs a few dollars.
Also you can leave it in INDIRECT sunlight for a day and see if that works.
