Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

The water will not turn on.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher, Model 665.13792K602 . The water will not start at all. I can hear it going through it's cycles but it never gets any water. I have checked that the water is turned on (under the kitchen sink). There is no separate shutoff valve for dishwasher only. What's going on?

I found another solution on FixYa which did the trick. There was a fork stuck under the water level trip valve (shaped like a hat) in the bottom right front corner. Removed the fork and now it works. Thanks.

If you take the bottom panel off and look to where the inlet hose is attaching to in back of the brass coupling there is a water valve there make sure you are getting power to the valve disconnect the line after the valve and turn the machine on having the valve fill into a bucket if the water doesnt come out of the valve then replace the valve

Stever,
Call where you purchased it and have them send out a service tech. Most appliances are under warranty for a year from purchase.

Kenmore Elite dishwasher will not drain

If the drain pump won't run, the most common cause is something hard (like a piece of glass or hard plastic) got into the pump and is blocking the impeller. If you want to fix it yourself, first unpug the dishwasher. Then you will need to either siphon the water out of the sump area or use a wet vac to suck out the water from the sump area. Then remove the toe-kick panel so you can get to the underside of the dishwasher. Depending on the model, you may be able to access the drain pump from there, or you may have to pull the dishwasher out. Then you can remove the end of the drain hose and check the area there. If that's okay, you can remove the drain pump by finding and pressing on the release button or lever, and turning it 1/8 turn counter-clockwise, If there's an obstruction, you will find it now. If no obstruction, then you probably have a bad drain pump and will need to replace it.

I have an kenmore elite "ultra wash" model 665. not sure the rest.. about 7/8 years old, making loud buzzing sound during wash cycles, starts about 5 minutes into the normal wash cycle. i removed the inlet...

I have the same problem as those who stated their dishes are not getting clean. If you listen to the wash cycle you should hear water sloshing around inside. If you hear just a humming sound the washer has no water. I have this problem. I had a tech come and he told me the water is syphoning out my drain and I need to change my plumbing, then he charged me $65. I have lived in this house for ten years. 6 with the washer that came with house and 4 with this Kenmore Elite. This problem started about 6 months ago. So what I have been doing is opening the door, after the humming starts and the sloshing stops, and adding about 2 L of water. It seems to wash just fine after that.

The water pipes rattle violently in the beginning of the cycle.

My Kenmore 16464 dishwasher caused a buzz in the water pipes at the start of the cycle that I thought was just water hammer. It turned out to be a bad water inlet valve on the dishwasher that has water hoses (inlet and outlet) attached plus has an electrical connector. It is located near the front left underneath the tub. I pulled the dishwaher out and replaced it and all is quiet again. - Jim

How do you reset the kenmore elite dishwasher? I replaced the faucet in my sink and forgot to turn on the water to the dishwasher....when I started it it went half way through the cycle when I realized...

Turn off the breaker that powers it. If all else fails, take a jug, fill it in the sink and pour it into the bottom of the dishwashwer until it comes to the bottom of the heater, that's the round think suspended above the bottom, below the rack, and turn it back on.
