Thanks for your question. To force laptop to boot from Windows installation CD you need to do the following.
1. Enter BIOS - press key F2 or F3 (depending on laptop) during the early start up.
.2. Change Boot order to CD-DVD dirve as first one- Depending on BIOS version you will have to look for this in different places. Normally there would be a section called "Boot Order" or it may be in basic settings. Have a look around I'm sure you can find it. Once you found it move CD-DVD drive to the top of the list (usually using + and - keys)
3. Exit saving changes! - Exit tab is normally last one on the right and you can exit with saving changes. You can also exit using one of the keys listed on the bottom of the page of BIOS.
Once you exit saving changes laptop will restart it's self and should boot from your Windows CD. Please don't hesitate to ask more questions if further assistance is needed. Good Luck

When you boot up the laptop press F10 to bring up an list of devices to boot up from, select the CD drive.
OR
Go into the BIOS setup and to the Boot start up and move the CD to the top as the first boot device with the hard disk as the second device.

Cant start my laptop it reads "reboot and select proper boot device and the screen is black ?

Go in to bios by pressing del key sometimes F2 or F1 and see if your harddrive is set to 2nd highest boot priority.Set your CD/DVD drive to first. Save your settings and exit. Remove any cd's/dvd's you may have in your drive plus if you have a flash drive plugged into the usb port unplug it before starting.

If you still have this problem, your harddrive might have a problem with the booting files on it. Reinstalling or repairing windows will fix this. Put your windows disc in and boot to it.

Hopefully you wont have a problem installing or repairing windows or your harddrive could be bad. Before buying a new harddrive for it try removing it from the bay and reinstalling it, in case of a bad connection (example:harddrive wasn't fully connected.).You could go into bios and see if it shows up there.

Hope this helps ya.

This usually means 1 of a few things..
1. Your Harddrive is bad
2. You got a boot sector virus, and your boot ini file is so badly infected, your computer can't find the boot file and you need to format your c:\ or d:\ drive....if you can get to your CMD window (command) but the way you bring it up is from CMD in start/run/CMD but since you can't even boot to your desktop...then you can choose a few options..

IF you have your your Windows Xp, or Windows Vista or Window 7 (depending on how you purchased your system, I'm thinking XP...since with Vista and Windows 7 you can reload to factory settings)

If you do have the disk....then you WILL have to reload your Operating System ....IF your harddrive isn't bad (have bad sectors or clusters) or is just "old" or was bumped severely and there's a dent on your harddrive preventing your boot ini file from being found...

There are so many things that could be wrong with it....Send me more infomation....
It's definitely NOT your motherboard...it's a harddrive issue...whether from a virus (which there are many out there that could infect or even rename your boot file....or your harddrive is BAD..
Either way...let me know and I can help you further!!!

Laptop won't boot.

if the hard drive is suspect, then you should be able to boot from a windows cd if you have one, usually you can do this by hitting F11 or F12 dependent on laptop type to boot from CD/DVD Drive instead of hard disk, you can then check hard drive using chkdsk util on windows cd

Hi there, please try this trobuleshooting steps. after you push the power button quickly tap the F12 key until you reached too boot options menu. once you are already at the menu, select you Hard drive usually harddrive represent as model e.g WDC **** it means western digital. once you slected the harddrive your computer should boot now to your Harddrive. if else fails, waht you need now is to check if you cmputer was able to detect you harddrive. restart the computer then this time keep tapping the F1 key to enter the utility setup. once inside the setup check your system information under internal HDD if motherboard can detect your harddrive. if yes, then all you need to do there is to use the recovery cd that came with the system then boot your computer from the cd rom then install you windows. If not, then you have to contct your manufacturer. that could be a defective harddrive. please let me know if you need more help.

thanks

Replaced harddrive and dvdroom wont recognize in bios

Goto bios menu. And change the setting on hard drive and cdrom. It could be it still set in the old configuration. Try to set it in auto detect. Then save the setting. Then goto bios once again to check if the settings doesn't change. Restart again and wait if something you didn't expect still happens.

Leave a comment if this solve cd rom detection.

DVD drive keeps on opening when starting

If the boot priority in the BIOS setup screen is set to thr CD it  will open the cd door every time you boot looking for the BOOT cd.    It will not accept anything else, at that point except a boot cd since it hasn't found the operating system (windows) yet.    By "blue laptop" you mean "blue screen" DO a "Windows restore" or reinstall windows from the reinstall cd or Harddrive partision containing the restore files.

The problem is that you need to boot up the laptop with the CD as the first boot device so you can then install Windows XP.
If you press F12 a boot up you will get a list of alternate boot devices oher than the hard disk as the first boot device, which was set up in the BIOS. Select the CD as the first boot device and when prompted press the space bar to start the CD.

View fies in my hardisk when windows does not load

Well it sounds like you are booting with the cd however it's your harddrive that's having a issue.
Go into the bios and check to see if your computer see's a hard drive.
If you can't do that put the laptop against your ear and listen to see if you hear the harddrive spin up.
Either way you do not have access to c:\
The harddrive either died or someone might have dropped it or jarred it and somehow it came unplugged depending on the laptop or notebook you have.
