Yes your amp would not to mention the Quad 22L2 has a electro static self revolving 1500 watt heated base and gives you 4 times the warmth the KEF IQ5SE speakers will.

Stay warm dude.

Wiring

You need to trace the wiring back to your amplifier, Whatever is on the positive (red) on the amp you should use on the speakers.

Hi Strange problem with Marantz pm7001 When ever I turn the volume upto around 1/3 and 1/2 of the way, the amp cuts out and reset it self down to minimum volume. It seems like the amp ins't enough power...

What's probably happening is that the amplifier is shutting down or cutting back the volume as protection from damage. You may have a partial short in the speaker wiring that is not a problem at lower levels, but at higher ones causes the amp to see too low a load. There may a problem with a speaker or crossover component that is breaking down at higher volumes. Or something in the amp's output stage is unable to handle the load.

Test the system with a known good speaker system and length of wire and see if the trouble continues. If it does, you'll know it's the amplifier that needs to be checked. If the test speakers can reach normal volume, you can start checking the wiring and other speakers for the source of the trouble.

How do you connect the back cables so the sound will come out right

There are four posts - two black and two red. They should be connected together, as shown in the picture. If you are missing the brass straps, simply use wire to reconnect the posts, black-black and red-red.

Then it's a simple matter of connecting the red (+) amplifier output to one of the red terminals, and the black (-) amplifier terminal to the black terminal on the KEF.

The KEF terminals can be seperated if you wish to "biamp" or "biwire" these speakers. Each black/red pair is dedicated to either the bass or the treble. For higher fidelity, some listeners prefer to run seperate wires from a single amplifier channel to each individual speaker input.clmrt5000_5.jpg

I have just bought an amplifier for some old Kef speakers but the speakers sound very tinny. Does this mean they need replacing too?

It's not clear how the speakers sound with a different amp or if other speakers sound tinny with this amp. What's the source you're listening to? If it's Phono that opens up a different can of worms.

Can you certify that the electronics is faultless in this scenario? More info on that piece may be helpful.

The woofers could both be blown but I doubt it. Tweeters usally die if a speaker is overloaded. You should be able to see or feel the woofers vibrating in the presence of bass.

If it came actively powered and permanently connected but you do not want to use the supplied amplifier, then you need to disassemble the subwoofer cabinet and disconnect the amplifier from the driver.

Hi! The fact that the LCD has power implies that the fault is in the Power Amp-Speaker stage.
Check 1: Check that your speakers are connected to the amplifier output properly.
check 2: If connection is proper check for power on/power off blips. If blips are heard the Power amp /speaker stage is ok .
check 3: If power on/off blip is heard then you have to check the source stage i.e CD/radio etc
Check 4: if blip is not heard. Disconnect the speaker and try with another. eliminate the case of a blown speaker by testing speaker on another system.
check 5: if speaker and source are ok. Treoubleshoot the amplifier Power supply stage with the followinghttp://www.howtodothings.com/electronics/how-to-fix-the-fuse-on-your-guitar-amplifier
check 5: if the power supply to power amp stage is ok troubleshoot the power amp stage with this guidehttp://www.howtodothings.com/electronics/how-to-fix-your-guitar-amplifier
