Question about LG VX5400 Cellular Phone

2 Answers

I managed to get my phone wet with ocean water yesterday. initially it only acted strangely when buttons were pushed, but now the keypad is unresponsive except for the power and volume buttons. when the screen dims any button will brighten it again. i wiped it with alcohol and dried it with a hair drier. did i somehow lock the keypad?

The keyboard would be part of the mainboard of the phone, its replacement is not cheap.

What you can do is take the phone apart, use a heatgun or put the phone in a Closed, airtight container of rice for a few days. The phone needs to be taken apart as much as possible.

the rice will absorb the moisture or water from the components and hopefully it will work fine after.

You need to keep it a day or two in the closed container.

here is a tutorial on how to take a phone apart:

Hi, Good evening.
As per the disruption from you. It seems that your mobile motherboard is perfectly OK. the only problem is with keyboard. Once a circuit is having a supply of 2V and dipped in salt water the circuit is deffinetly going to fry. I don't know how your motherboard survived, you must have took it out quickly. The residual water on your keyboard fried the keyboard. To my best guess If you change your keyboard your cell is all ok.

It can be done easily by your local mobile repair shop but they might ask for a bit of time depending upon the availability of the chip.

Hi there,

On your case, you will need a live technicians to do the work for you. The unit keypad need to clean and swiped out for any residue of water on it's keypad. It is better not to use or turn the unit ON until it was not attend and clean as I said, to avoid any further damaged on the unit like any short circuit on other parts, that can result for bigger problem.

The unit only need to be clean and dried out for any residue lives on the board.

Hope this initial information and idea helps, advised me here again for any clarification.

Exact problem!

First of all do not put your phone in the freezer anymore because you might have water damage in your keypad and freezing it could make it worse overall. Now you should leave your keypad out to dry for a day or two then check if it works or not if it doesnt dont worry you can order a replacement keypad at http://cnn.cn this is where I get all my replacement parts at and they are really good quality and price best of luck to you.

Stuck buttons?

Yea dude, my piece just started having that problem. It seems like the buttons are stuck, or like some presses them and such. I can't check my text's or look at my menu or nothing when its doing it cause my 9, 6, and 8 button always pop up or act like there being held down. Well,I don't know how you got this problem but mine showed up after I texted someone with a wet hand. So I'm sure theres water under my keypad or this little frameware device or whatever its called.(it runs your keypad...i guess) Frameware can only activate one key at a time. So I'm thinking I need a new little computer thing called frameware, or to take apart the keypad and make sure theres no water in there, even though after to days, the water should be dried up. So if it got wet, bring it to your dealer an see if they can replace the little computer deal, unless it's more than the phone itself. And if you just so happen to live in the desert and that phone had absolutely no way of getting wet, i guess them things just happen to go out for some reason. I dunno. I HATE THESE RAZRZ!!! haha. Good luck Morgan
