You have to pull the unit totally out so you can access both sides of the machine you can order the parts from either marcone or allbrands applaince they mail the parts directly to you when you have the unit out you will be able to see its an easy fix of just replacing springs and cord if im remebering correctly theres only two 1/4 screws to loosen one on each side you will be replacing the glide rollers also in the kit they send you with the cord are the glide rollers

My dishwasher door springs appear not to work and will not hold the door open. How do you replace or reattach the springs? Thanks, JoAnne

they actually arent springs, it is a cable and has probably broken or come apart. You can order this part through KitchenAid and replace yourself. Or call a repair rep.

Door came crashing down and it seems like hinges and/or springs are shot

Chances are either you have defective door springs or perhaps broken cables (ropes with formed plastic loop ends) Usually only one side will break at a time, but please replace them in pairs. The easiest way to replace these on this model is to pull the dishwasher out of the opening. remove the kick panel, the side or top mount screws and pull it forward (be careful of your water line, drain hose and power cord and if needed disconnect them to allow you to pull it out). Look at the side that is still in-tact as a reference to how to resolve the broken side.
If you need help on routing the cable, let me know and I can get you a diagram for how it winds around the pulleys on the sides of the dishwasher.
Good luck!!

Door spring broken

You should have one at the bottom corners of the door. Pull the dishwasher out about a foot and you should be able to see the broken spring and the hooks it connects to. Screws under the counter top hold the dishwasher in.

Door drops hard and i have an error code 7 -

The door slamming open is a broken spring/springs. They are very easy to replace - remove the screws holding the dishwasher in... pull out slightly and replace with good ones on the sides.

Can you clear the error code by shutting off power to it?

(Mdl # helps)

KitchenAid KUDS01FL - door spring tensioner snapped - how do I fix / get parts?

Replaced the tension spring cords. The plastic portion of the cords had broken. I think this is desined to fail since it is such light plastic.

WHEN OPENING THE DISHWASHER DOOR, IT DROPS QUICKLY.

Actually I found out that for a LG dishwasher it is as likely to be the cable/cord attached to the spring and door. This a very odd setup in that this cable is made of nylon cord, and not any thicker than a round shoelace! It clearly should be metal cable, and it's not that hard to replace the nylon stuff with steel. Anyway, it is worth it to pull the unit out and open the side panel to see if in facts it's a broken cord or spring first before ordering any parts.

I recently had the same problem. One of the cords that attaches the door to a spring had snapped. I purchased cord replacments at the following URL and completed the repair myself. http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1059756&PPStack=1

Good Luck, Tim K.

Broken door spring on kitchenaid dishwasher

kitchenaid should be made to recall all of these dishwashers that have that string holding door since it could pose a hazzard to children. They should be made to put in a metal cable at no cost to the consumer
