Fitting a drive belt to a Manco Dingo Go Kart

Hi. I have an old Manco Dingo model 808-00. Over a number of years I have fitted drive belt Comet part number 203593A. Now I have a brand new belt out of its original Comet packing and for the life of me I can't fit it. It's just too tight. I have bought another and that is also too tight. Now the distance between the clutch and drive wheel can't change so what has happened? Having fitted these belts before I am lost for words or have I just lost the knack? It was never easy. Now I have two very frustrated kids! Please herlp!! Many thanks David Parker.

Have a look at those links above, i am sure they will help you.

These are really tight anyway, just use a pry bar, and rotate as you try to put it on over the edge... it will stretch anyway, on use quite a bit, which is why it's tight. ONLY if you are sure it is the right one, then you'll be OK, if unsure measure the distance between the edges of the drive, driven, and calculate your length, if it is OK, then brute force, and technique must be used...

What is the belt configeration for a Craftsman 917.254214 ride on mower?

This video shows several belt patterns for various mowers. I am assuming you are wanting the deck belt and not the drive belt. 4 seconds into the video is the standard craftsman 42 inch belt path. The belt at the bottom is put on the engine pulley. Tip from my own experince make sure that the belt is under the belt guides or you will ruin a belt in short order. Your model number is under the seat and is also a scanable barcode. Another tip is to snap a photo of your model numbers. This is handy when you need parts. Prolectrix usb turntable

Getting drive belts is easy, fitting them is the problem. If it is still attached in any way make a note or a photo of how it is fixed. This will help to putting a new one on. Measure the diameter of the old belt in mm. You will also need to measure the thickness in mm too. Then put these words into Google: "Turntable Belt xx mm" (use the diameter measurement in place of the XX). Then search the results looking for something that is very close to your belt. If you find the belt, try searching again for the fitting of it. Quote the model number of the turntable. The fitting instructions might even be found on this site.

I believe that you are describing a fitting made to accept a 3/8" drive rod. If you have a 3/8" socket set, place an extention on the rachet, then insert the extention into your fitting. That should get it opened.

The Alternator belt. This belt is used to transfer the rotary power from the engine to a number of ancillary units.
In your case it looks as if the belt drives the Air con, Alternator and brake servo unit.
Any good autoparts store should be able to supply the correct type. Note when posting car related questions quote the Model, Trim level, Year, Engine Engine type and Size as manufacturers can fit different belts to the same base model. The same goes when ordering your new belt. For emergency use you can get an adjustable belt. If you are fitting your own belt there is normally a slide mechanisim on one of the ancillary units e.g the alternator the bolts on this unit need to be slackened and the unit pushed twoards the engine. This will allow the new belt to be fitted. Do not be tempted to overtighten as this puts excessive strain on the bearings of the ancillary units.
