Clean the entire printer of old paper, and bits and paper. You will be surprised how often a little piece of paper is stuck somewhere. Buy a bright LED torch, keep by printer ,so can check carefully.
Try a thinner paper, 70gsm. Thicker paper jams more often.
Buy fresh pack of paper. Paper gets wet. Old paper jams.
If older printer then the rollers might be dirty and sticky. Can use a cotton bud to wash with alcohol. Otherwise put your paper in a closed container and keep it dry. If damp/humid , then the paper gets sticky.
I am a finance whistleblower and have used some 10 printers and 1 10,000$ photocopier, all worn out. Sometimes just got to go buy a printer.
Buy the most cheapest printer. When it dies, go buy another. That way never loose money on big scan/print/fax dog printers. Use a local fax company and photocopy company - let them wear out their printers.
Top loader or bottom loader? Ink-jet, dot-matrix or Laser? All have different reasons. Most common are ink-jets. Most common are top loaders. Most common cause is cheap paper. Buy ink-jet paper. Most people buy cheap copy paper (20#). Buy a good 25# or heavier paper to keep that from happening (especially w/ top loaders). People always worry about that extra dollar or two for paper, but it take an average of 10ml of ink to print 300 pages. That's 1 cartridge ($10 to $20 dollars) for less than 1 package of paper ($3 to $5).
Are you using quality paper? While it's nice to buy the cheaper paper, it will cause jams. Make sure you buy the correct paper for your printer by checking your manual. It doesn't have to be HP paper, just make sure it's the correct weight.
