To set the copier to print in B&W only, press "Additional Functions" - "Printer Settings" - "Settings" - page down to Page 4 - "Color Mode" - "Black and White".

Hello get, lets give this a shot.First I need to know what operating system you are using .Next I need to know if the print driver was installed on each individual workstation or if it is only installed on the server and being "shared".And which version print driver you are using(UFR,PCL5,PCL6). But a shotgun answer is to click START,then PRINTERS FAXES.Then right click on the IR3220 printer.Go to PROPERTIES.The print driver will now be in front of you.Click PRINTING PREFERENCES.After you do so,you will see a page with many options.Across the top of page wll be several tabs and on the far right will be QUALITY.Select it, and toward the center of the of the page you will see COLOR MODE.There you will have a drop down menu which allows you to select black white only.Select it and then hit APPLY and then OK. Tada :-) Have a great day

Brother MFC-9840CDW. I have just put in a new Drum, Belt unit & Waste Toner unit along with all new genuine toners. I have done all the resets for the Drum & Belt Units. Now it wont allow me to print...

Two things to try out.
Probably the easiest thing to do is to check the printer driver settings on your computer. Your printer driver has the option of printing in color or exclusively mono (black and white). Since your printer is printing, but only in mono or black mode, it seems like the printer driver would be the first place to start.

Secondly, it is possible through the web interface for the printer to specify that the output color is Auto, Color or B&W. It's possible you might have inadvertently changed this while you were resetting your machine after installing the replacement parts. (one can also do this through the Menu settings)

Go to the web interface by typing into your web browser
http://xx.xx.xx.xx, where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of your printer. You may need to logon to the printer through the web interface. I believe the default password is access.

You should find an option for Printer Settings. Mine is in the right hand column near the top, Click on that link.

You might also try typing in the following link where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of your printer. http://xx.xx.xx.xx/fax/printermain.html?id=outputcolor

The leftmost tab for the Printer Settings is Output Color. Make sure that Output Color is set to Auto rather than B&W. If it is set to B&W, you will not be able to print in color.

Hope this helps you out.

Set xerox 7845 to black as default print color

You can always look for answers to your Xerox questions at .
Default the Print Driver to Print in Black and White Only for a Microsoft Windows 7 OS:
The steps below can be used to restrict color printing through the print driver.
NOTE: This solution requires administrative permissions and may require the assistance of a System Administrator.
Open the Printers, Printers and Faxes, or Devices and Printers window. See the Related Items below for additional information.
Right-click on the printer, and then select [Properties] or [Printer Properties].
Click on the [Administration] tab.
Expand the [Configurations] section.
Enable the option for [Black and White ONLY].
Click [OK]. The driver will now have Black and White printing as the default and locked so that the option cannot be changed.

Default the Print Driver to Black and White for a Microsoft Windows OS:
Open the Printers window on the computer.
Right-click on the required printer, and then select [Properties] or [Printer Properties] depending on which operating system is being used.
Click on [Advanced], and select [Printing Defaults].
Click on the [Image Options] tab.
Under Color Correction, select [Xerox Black and White Conversion].
Select any other required driver default settings.
Click on [Apply].
Click [OK] to save the settings.
Close the window.

Default the Print Driver to Black and White for MAC OS:
Launch an application, preferably not your browser, that you can print from, e.g. Microsoft Word
  1. Select File -> Print
    1. Select Xerox Features where it says Copies \& Pages
    2. Select Color Options from the drop down labeled Paper/Output
    3. Select Black and White (Black and white printing on the Xerox 7845 costs less.)
    4. On the Presets drop down, select Save As and enter a name, e.g. "Black and White" if you print to multiple printers, check the All Printers
    5. Click OK to save this preset
Now you can test printing by clicking Ok to the print dialog.

How can I get my HP 6500a plus printer to PERMANENTLY default to black printing? I am needlessly using too much color and the default setting is only for a single document.

Go to right click at the printer icon on your computer and choose printer properties or printing preferences and from there choose the color setting to print in black alone. Regards

Have replaced black ink inMP150, cleaned ans aligned heads etc but still wont print in black. will print in blue have I disturbed another setting (black?)

Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can also be poor ink cartridge contacts

How to change color setting default to Black

Hi jill,
Printers can set default to what properties you would like to chose. If you want to default it just click your printer. If it is not found in the desktop try to find it by clicking start menu ,then control panel ,then printers and faxes. select your printer and right click the icon. go to preferences. look for the properties. select the color to default it to greystyle. click apply. then try to print. So that you can still go back to color mode just go to the printer settings by selecting properties to choose what color you desired for the out put wether colored or black.

Please post or rate this solution so that I can give you more detailed info on troubleshooting your printer.

Can I set default printing to black and white for color laser printer?

Yes. Any printer's default options can be set as desired. Open the printer's properties (Start/Control Panel/Printers/right click the printer and left click Properties), and change the setting as you wish, then click OK. Those settings should be used each time you use the print command, unless you change the settings for that particular print job.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice, good OR bad.

Good luck!
