SOURCE: lead

The boiler is brass, and brass is an alloy that contains lead. Grades of brass used in boilers like this are designed not to corrode, and supposedly do not release lead into the water. You probably already have brass fittings on the water pipes in your house anyhow..

Hi

If it is blowing the circuit breaker, you have a reputured heating element.

Parts led diode

Sure it's a diode; I think it would be a neon light. If you are able to take the neon light out, I think you will find a similar part in catalogues such as RS or Farnell (maybe Maplin).

The X1 i have shorts everytime i use it and blows the fuse. didn't use to. do i need to replace the breaker? where can i find replacements?

Hi
The problem is the element in the boiler is blown and the element is shorting to ground. You need to replace the element and it will take care of your blowing the fuse.

The top comes off...you have take the clock out, undo a nut behind it and then you can pry the top off carefully. There are several metal pegs that engage holding clips that you are undoing by prying.

When machine is turned on the electrical parts blow a fuse. it is not a fuse or voltage problem but water seems to be falling onto electrical parts

if water gets into the electrical parts it will cause it to short out to ground, tripping your breaker/fuse. seal her up and see what happens.

FrancisFrancisX3 - no power

There are 3 thermostats in the unit- one for the water temperature, one for the steam temperature, and one fuse which blows if the unit overheats. The overtemp fuse is a 'fuseable link' that burns out if the boiler gets too hot (maybe 150C). If that fuse is blown, then you probably have other problems, since the unit won't get that hot unless the steam thermostat fails.

Even if the thermostats have failed, you should get the power light when the unit is plugged in, and the pump should work, but the boiler won't heat up. If you get no power at all, then you have a wiring fault somewhere.
