Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, since the Hannspree T23B is an LCD type TV, a simple test is to shine a flashlight at an angle towards the screen when it has blackened. Aim towards the area where the volume level is usually shown. Press on the volume control Up/Down. If semblance of the level could be seen even darkly, then the problem with the Hannspree would be a backlighting issue. Backlight as the term implies, refers to the soft whitish glow provided by small tube like bulbs behind the screen. This then would almost always be a hardware fault, not a setting nor a configuration concern and would require that the T32B be opened up to effect repairs.

Options then are:

  • consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if comfortable working with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe practices with electrically powered devices. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, a schematic diagram would be a necessity;
  • should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to consult with and/or seek the services of an authorized Service Center (specially if still under some form of extended warranty) or a qualified professional.

If a DIY is being considered, possible suspects are:
  • CCF (cold cathode florescent) lamps (least likely);
  • controller (a possibility);
  • power supply particularly to the inverter (likely);
  • inverters (most likely).

The inverters are responsible for supplying the high frequency high voltage power used by the CCF lamps. Due to heat related issues, capacitors tend to leak and/or bulge which causes them to fail. The same would hold true for the power supply.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Bush TV LCD 32 TV 005 HD

The black screen problem of your TV can be attributed to a backlight driver failure, busted backlight, or LCD driver failure.

The flickering indicates a failing backlight driver or a failing backlight. The screen should be totally black, without any glow, when either of them is not working. To verify, grab a torch and shine it on the screen. You will be able to see a faint display telling you that the backlight is busted or the backlight driver is faulty. If not, the LCD driver or the LCD panel itself is faulty, although it has a low probability due to the symptoms of the problem. The only way to fix the problem is replacement of the faulty part. You may need the service of a qualified technician to determine exactly which one is the root of the problem that needs replacement.

Screen black. polaroid tv 32". have sound TV/DVD Combo TDA-03211C

sounds like inverter board. What it sounds like is happing is your LCD is working ut the backligkt board that allows you to see is kicking off. (as you still have sound) Which could be the (most likely) inverter board, or the power supply board. You can take apart and check for voltage at your power supply. The power supply has a pigtail with large white wires and a connector. Power up with the center back cover off and check your voltage at the white connector on the power supply before and after the screen gos out. If there is no large voltage loss it is your inverter board.

You can used boards on e-bay or
